Hi all, I'm going to ask a stupid question. I've just put my engine back together with new camshafts/springs (220, 9.5) as well as a bunch of other stuff. It struggled to idle at first but I adjusted the idle controller screw and now it idles happily. I had to move it a few hundred metres so drove it the distance. When it came under load it spluttered, ran shitily and wanted to stall the moment I put the clutch in after moving. I've set the timing to match the ecu and triple checked the timing belt when I put it back on. Checked the tps and that's set right as well. It's running on dump pipes at the moment if that makes a difference. Is that kind of thing expected when you put new cams in before a tune? I know it'll need a tune I just don't want to take it to the tuner to have to fix stuff on the dyno (which can be quite expensive).
A set of tighe cams I bought off a forum member a while back. 220 duration 9.5mm lift. Gauge says 9 psi of vaccum. Not quite sure what you mean by degrees correctly
Degreeing a cam is when you measure accurately where the cams start to open the valves vs the crank position. Normally the cam manufacturer will tell you how to set them up. It's possible they are my old cams, I had no issues with them. I did degree them and they only needed the tiniest of adjustments with the adjustable gears to get them spot on. Idled really well (disappointingly well even, I wanted a bit more lump ) So if you got the timing belt on as per factory standard I would expect them to run quite well.
