Hello. Just need some advice regarding the tensioner piston. Currently doing a 100k timing service and I've got a issue with the tensioner piston not coming back out. I've backed out the 10mm stoper bolt all the way and the piston won't come out with it. Is this the piston being faulty or am I missing a step in renngaging the tensioner pistion.
If the stopper bolt has been removed and the hydraulic piston isn’t pushing on the tensioner arm then it (the cylinder) is no good.
Yep, she's stuffed and you should replace it. Good practice to change it each time you do the belt anyway.
Agreed as above. If the plunger is slow to return or doesn't return at all, shes dusted. How quickly did you push the plunger back in? You have to 1/4 turn and wait a minute (roughly) so you don't damage the internals. Go OEM replacement if possible, but the Dayco replacement units aren't too bad if you had to use them
