seeing as its MPH I would guess USA based. as stated Jap imports are limited to 180 unless the ecu is modded via a chip (that has the speed cut disabled) or nistune or some other method.

You can remove speed limit just by interrupting the yellow/green wire (speed sensor wire that goes back to ECU) and soldering 4.7v zener diode in series (or where you cut the wire in half)
    http://z32.wikispaces.com/file/view/ECCS_colored_m.gif
Terminal M29 at the back of your speedo. pin 17

In short what you doing is sending no more then 4.7v to a ECU while your speedo is displaying whatever speed that you doing (if you have 300km/h speedo and you just got one)
5V speed signal to standard ECU means 180km/h and it will cut out.
Zener diode will block off anything above 4.7V so signal to ecu is less then 5v and you are good to go.

Easy as... cost less then $0.20

So is this why the Americans and UK people got so upset when I said I did 270kmph (170mph area) just over 1/2 a mile with less power then they produce and still had RPM left over hehehe..

That. Or any aftermarket ECU or nistune worth its marbles can raise the limit

Its all very dependant on wheel/rim/tyre size. Easy calc. engine speed, gearbox ratio in 5th or top gear, diff ratio , circumference of tyre.

110 is enough for road use

:zlove: When the 300zx TT I own was dyno'd with a NISTune ECU installed we set the limiter to 250klm/h , could not see the sense of setting it any higher. :zlove: :br:

Without reading every post to see if there is a similar one...top speed is pretty damn easy to work out on a Z or any car for that matter.

Negatiting aerodynamics etc. Get the car into top gear. Get it to say 2000rpm. Note the speed. Get it to say 3000rpm. Note the speed. Then for every 1000rpm you know how many km's/hr your cars speed will increase. And then based on rpm limit you can then work out top speed.

    Easy.

mate that sounds great in theory but having owned a heavily modified ca18 that had a 9k redline and a weirdo gearbox that was doing 150kph at 4000rpm in 5th gear I can assure assure you it never ever went near 300kph. infact taking it to around 6000rpm in 4th I was doing a tad over 180kph if I dropped it into 5th it stayed exactly where it was speed wise. the engine did not have the torque to accelerate at all in that tall as nuts 5th gear at anything above 150kph and even then it was a pure OD and struggles to accelerate
