I'm hoping to find someone that has made the same mistake that can point me in the right direction. During my recent engine replacement I swapped in a replacement GB as well as my old one had a bit of a whine in it. Now that the engine is running I've found that I cant press the clutch in. I suspect I've assembled something incorrectly. The clutch fork and throw out bearing were with the GB but not installed so I assembled in a manor that looked most logical to me at the time.

It now feels like there is no give at all and the fork is not able to move....any ideas what I may have done wrong? The bearing seemed to be sliding fine when prior to installing the GB.

Kinda hard to guess what you have done. Go and look up the factory service manual and see if what you did is the right thing to do ;)

I put the clutch in backwards on the Jag MK2 when I converted the auto to a 5speed supra box.
It made a dreadful noise when I engaged the clutch.

Easy solution - just pull the gearbox out again, Pull the clutch off and reverse. Put all together again.

Then because I had an adjustable pivot point, clutch did not disengage.

Easy solution, pull the gearbox out, adjust the pivot point, reassemble.

    Then ....

    Eventually I got it right

My broomstick handle clutch centering device got a good workout that day

With the clutch plate one side the sprung centre sits up above the plate the other side sits flush.

The raised side is towards the GB. Unfortunately it seems to fit both ways.

On most clutch plates there is printing that says " this side towards GB" Sometimes its pretty small.

Only other possibility is that you didn't refit the fork/pivot ball assembly correctly. Either way the box has to come off.

The side you can see in the photo is towards the GB.

Thanks for those details. Sounds like that may have been our mistake.
