I'm organising a cruise for November 9th in memory of dougy (Red32) who passed away not long ago. I've got most of the cruise mapped out, but am having trouble coming up with an initial meetup point to begin the cruise. For reasons which will become clearer later, we will be passing through St Helena at the start of the cruise and hence would like a meeting point in that general area. I've highlighted in the map pic below the surrounding suburbs for a meeting point (but I'm happy to consider outside of the highlighted area). Anyone know of a good Bunnings or shopping center carpark or even a reserve or something of that ilk which wont be too busy at 8:00 - 8:30am on a sunday morning? Keep in mind we'll be heading up North towards King Lake, so something south of King Lake would be ideal.... Suggestions please guys...

    Marky Mark,
I think Watsonia Station on Greensborough Hwy has a substantial car park. A few years ago I organised an NDSOC cruise to start from there, it's big enough that Sunday morning rail commuters would leave ample space up one end for a meet/starting point. I assume that would still be the case today. It's inside your circle, just about where the word 'Watsonia' is - funny, that.

Pity I won't be able to make it on the day, I will be wearing jandals, eating fush and chups and doing other things Kiwi style that weekend, sheep excluded.

    Ditto...

Count me in too. No doubt there'll be a Coming Events notice we can tag onto but I'll meet anywhere for this one!

Find a decently sized parking lot in the area will be best. Hell even a supermarket/bunnings parking lot would be good for some pre cruise banter.

Myself and the red zed will be there for Dougy.

I'm local to the area and wouldn't go near Bunnings on Sunday morning. It'll be a dogs breakfast. Plus the entrance to the ground level Eltham Bunnings carpark isn't Zed friendly - there's a steep angle in it. The underground carpark would be ok though and probably not full.

Personally, I'd look at the Greensborough Plaza rooftop carpark. There's one mild speed hump and the rest is flat. I doubt Sunday morning would be busy. If it's raining, go down 1 level.

I don't know if this link will work, but ... https://maps.google.com/maps?q=Gree...,+Greensborough,+Victoria,+Australia&t=h&z=17

    - Church street ends in the carpark.

    Cheers,
    Blake.

Strangely I can see the map you posted mark. My parents Inlaws live in Mill park and I know the area fairly well. I would possible recommend a medium sized car park for the Four Doors Restaurant Off plenty Rd. There is a Shell Station, McDonalds and car wash all situated next to the carpark and should be pretty empty on a Sunday morning.

    What do you think??

Hey Mark! This years BLC I started the cruise from 1530 Main Rd, Research. Seemed to work out well being the route from there had little to no traffic lights, limiting the risk of breaking up the group heading north to open roads.

Big enough car park and quite free of traffic on a Sunday morning. Chose this place initially because of a Cafe called "Z Cafe" :br:
