Damn zed!!! Always has small gremlins to fix, I'm currently dealing with a really annoying intermittent driver's side power window.

Have some spare parts lying around so I've done the following:

    - Changed the driver's side switch. Made no difference.

    - Have changed the black relay box in the driver's side door too. Problem persists.

Does anyone know what else might cause the window to stop working? Is there a safety mechanism that stops the window working if the alignment is out? Sometimes it can get stuck half way, all the way up or all the way down. When it does get stuck and I press the switch, I can hear a small click in the door.

sandeep mentioned both my black boxes might be dodgy because if there's bad soldering inside, you could still hear a click regardless.

If anyone's wrecking PM me, might take a gamble and change the motor too.

Agree with Sandeep, changing one 20 year old box for another 20 year old box is not really an improvement.

I had the same thing with my zed, it was intermittent on the driver's side. Ended up taking the black relay box out, opening it and finding some cracked solder on some of the joints in there. Re-soldered them, no problems since.

    Cheers,

i cracked open both black boxes. couldn't find any bad soldering points but apparently looks can be deceiving. he say lay it on thick and it'll probably fix it.

i'll attack one of them and see what happens.

Weird, when I had that issue and in a couple of other black boxes I've fixed it was really obvious where the broken solder was, oh well, at least it's fixed.
