Thanks for the compliments, but I'm just an enthusiastic amateur who has a crack at car shots on average once a year when I follow Wykked down to the Island. I agree that getting more signature backgrounds would make the pics look better, but I was having a hard enough time keeping the cars in focus let alone worrying about backgrounds!!! And we were very limited in the locations we were allowed to go to - if it wasn't for RedZedMikey's diplomacy skills we wouldn't have been allowed over the far side of the track at all (thanks Mikey!).

 

Had a good time at the Nationals.

Would like to thank Mark (Jedi) and Peter (Wykked) for making Mary and I very welcome to the Nationals, over all had a good trip coming down and back home, car drove like a dream, it was nice to meet up with some new faces, Bigcol and Jt enjoyed your company through the day of the show n shine.
Mark, Andrew (Procky) summed it all up with his comments to you, (and thanks Andrew:thumbup: ) also Mark you do not need to apologise to me for unfairly missing out on a trophy as you do have a nice clean car and you are deserving of the trophy. But I do show a bit of disappointment as to how my car was judged, It was after 3.15 pm it took me to go and ask a judged to see if my car was getting judged at all, the reply I got was we must have missed it, I will get to it as soon as I can, My car was judged in 5 minutes. I still don't understand how the judging went about, or if I got judged properly, (obviously not).
How do they judge the best Zed in show?.
It seems strange that two years ago I recieved the Shannon's award to go from that and not even getting the car looked at by any judges that were awarding this award.
Mark. I hope you will follow up on how the judging went about and share some info on the outcome of it all, I will like also to say that I respect you for coming over and wanting to give me the award you received, but it was not necessary, and I thank you for that.:thumbup:

What a great weekend, although for us it didn't go quite to plan. I think I spoke to just about everyone either at document check on Friday or scrutineering cars on Saturday or selling raffle tickets on Sunday evening, but I didn't really get to "talk" to people at all. I did have a little chance to catch up with Joe and his wife during the show and shine and Like Mark I can't understand what happened to the judging, but Mark says he will look into it and I am confident that he will, although I doubt it will change anything.

Like a few other members the track day didn't go exactly to plan, with only one timed lap being completed for the whole day, and although that lap was good enough for second place in class it was recorded during the warm-up session so it didn't count. It was just a casual lap to see how the tyres and grip level were and I wasn't really on it, but it was a 2 minute flat time so we were definately on target for something into the mid 1.50s but it wasn't to be. After checking and swapping a heap of parts at the track on Saturday I found the problem on Sunday while cleaning the engine bay at the show and shine. It only took me 15 minutes to fix it once I go home on Monday which just doubles the frustation......

This is the passangers side turbo outlet hose with a nice little boost leak....



Now I just have to wait till next month for the next round of the state series to take my frustations out, and we will definately be at Morgan Park in two years time becuse I still want to mix it on the track with a pack of Z32s.

 

That's a pretty serious tear, any idea how it happened?

 

I've got no idea, but at 22psi it isn't hard to make a small tear into a big one. It also got a bit bigger while being taken off.

 

Could have fixed this at the track, that is if someone had a spare. Could have asked me, I didn't have one but badxtc could have helped with his after engine fail or Tecky would have pinched one of a Datto. I guess you were busy helping run the day though. It was a very well run event, with a few incidents to deal with. The driver briefing was very hard to hear at the back. though. BTW. Best to use dual layer Silicon hose.

Talking about lap times, my car should haven heaps faster, last time I was there 5 years ago I did a 1 -45 and at Eastern Creek at that stage I was doing 1 -42. My car is heaps faster now, although the gearing was wrong this time for P I and with a crook shoulder and back, I didn't push it . With a gun driver in my car and less power than I had on the weekend 360rwkw VQ35 at Eastern Creek best is 1 -35 so as a reference the car is capable of at least a 1.38 at P I.

 

any plans to be back down in PI this year? most of the SAU guys and Vic WTAC teams do PI in the lead up to superlap.
i'm planning to go back next month
