Hey everyone, Recently picked up a 1995 Z32, Aus delivered 25th anniversary model. Its a 2+2 Targa Top NA and I love it!

Swapped my R33 GTS-T (which was an unfinished project) The Skyline was a big build and we put alot of time into her but my wife and I just had a baby so I wanted something I could drive and appreciate and I have always loved Zeds :D

Thought I would introduce myself on the forums and put up some pictures of my new pride and joy.

Overall its in good condition, been well maintained and is stock, besides a pod filter and some king springs.

The plans are some new wheels, leaning towards Rota Grids 18x9.5 22 offset.
A set of coil overs, a 2.5" cat back exhaust and fresh window tint.

Picking up a R34 steering wheel and re-trimmed gearknob, handbrake/gear boots and center console lid in the next few weeks too :)

Other than that I'm happy with the rest of the car Except the Anniversary decals were painted over!!! Trying to source a new set atm, but having some trouble.

I hope to see some of you on a Z cruise sometime.

    Xavier.

Welcome to the Forum and congrats on what looks to be a nice clean Zed ....

weird that someone would paint over the 25th Anniversary decals .. a bit of a sacrilege.

Hmm was wondering if and when this zed would show up on the forum. It was damaged on the drivers rear quarter hence why it's missing the rear bar apron and has had a respray. I won't post photos of the damage up unless you want me to, however they are available online. As for the 25th anniversary decals, they're no longer available though there was talk on here recently about getting some made up from a high res image.

I also have reason to believe this zed may have originally been the press release car given to motoring journo's for review (and possibly the redbook photos too?). Motor magazine 1995

Either way welcome to the insanity, make sure to visit the tech section and look into doing a 100k service and plenum pull if not done already. You've got a rare, late model zed there (1 of 40) that definitely has some potential.

Thanks, It's not without its minor marks being a fairly old car but overall its pretty tidy.

I agree, complete sacrilege to the model! but you can't help the stupid/lazy people out there -.-

My goal is to bring it to near perfection, the Anniversary decals are the first step.

I need to pin point my drive-line noise, some searching on here will yield some results I'm sure :)

Just had a baby, so the 2+2 is the obvious choice.
2 kid seats in the back, but you really need to fit a capsule.
The targa roof might give better access to the back seat area.
You will have to do a thread on test fitting baby capsules :)
I have seen one that might fit.

Thanks for the info ryzan :)

Just wondering how you know of the car? It wouldn't suprise me if this was the press release car as shes done a few kms.

I will definitely be doing the major service (yay :p) and looking into the plenum pull.

Would be great if we could get some decals made up, It just not the same without the decals on the front quarter.

Heres my email address (xavier.peters@live.com.au) would be great if you could send me some pics of the damage. I had assumed there was a previous accident when I noticed some slight misalignment on a small section of the rear bumper to quarter panel.

    Precisely! :D

Theres more room back there than the skyline though so technically a smart choice.

We have a Falcon as a daily commuter with the baby seat in it at the moment, but when the time comes for a toddler seat I will never drive that boat again

Welcome to the forum. Very nice car you have there.

Re the driveline noise, get a rear wheel alignment done.
While there do a front to rear hub measurment.
Rear subframe might be out of alignment if its had a bingle.

Possibly do a body alignment measurments front to rear.
No major issues, but just to be sure.

specifications are on page 852 of the online workshop manual.
    Here is the link, http://www.pexcom.com/images/service_manual_z32.pdf
(its part of the Tech Section - under Service Manual Z32)

Thanks Simmo, Im in the south, Aldinga Beach, yet to see another zed here :p
I love going out on cruises as much as I can, But I work odd hours so its hard to get to some meets.

May I suggest a Cafe De Villis meet then a cruise?

gmbrezzo, I will get that done soon, thanks for the advice :)
So much reading up to do on aus300zx.

Did a oil, filter, fuel filter and diff oil change last week (easiest diff change I have ever done!)

Organise a Techday Beer and sausage sizzle the guys will helpout and you can learn heaps.
These car are not like a Holden or Toyota, and they have their own idiosyncrasies about them.
Reading? you'll be doing that for the next 12 mth :D

Long standing jokes: to change a bulb requies an engine out, to replace the air filter, first remove the rear bumper :)

1/4" and 3/8" socket sets are your best friends. Forget the 1/2" stuff, no room.

    Thats a great idea :)

I much prefer doing work myself than taking it to a shop (where I can)

Ever since I've had Japanese cars I have learnt so much, with many a skinned knuckle and the occasional curse :p But its all worth it when you get to enjoy your hard work.

I thought you first had to jack the car up, then remove the rear bumper to remove the air filter? Man i was wrong :D

When I told my mates I had picked up a Zed, Responses were similar "Have fun pulling the engine for everything"

I will be investing in some tools more suited to the Zed it sounds, as Most of my stuff is 1/2"

Hahaha.. you'll fit in well round here.
There are about 6x bolts you can use a 1/2' sockets on the rest is small drive stuff.
Skinned knuckle. Ha.. these cars Demand a blood sacrifice to operate correctly. :D :zlove:

I don't mind a bit of blood sacrifice :p Dropped a turbo on my bare foot once, not a fun experience.

I was thinking of installing a paywave reader in the dash so it can take all my money ;)

G'day xavier. Welcome to the forum as mentioned earlier. Reasonably tidy girl you have there now. Did you feel a little dirty leaving the skyline scene in opt for the fairlady. Haha. Have a few friends that are skyline owners to which always induce combat with respects to our vehicles. Fun times. At least common sense brought your forward of the minions lol.

Too bad your on the other side of Adelaide. I would be glad to have a look over your zed for you and help pinpoint some oddities. Help with the plenum pull, etc etc. I'm up north in freeling/Roseworthy/gawler area however...

Feel free to pm or anything should you need any help. Always happy to help where possible.

Also your meet and greet idea sounds plausible. Adelaide needs a bit of a bomb under its zed owners bums, as its become a little quiet on the z front these days. Might need to ruffle a few feathers.

Best of luck with her, and happy zedding!

Thanks Sanouske Glad the forums full of such helpful people :)

I always loved Nissans, Silvias,Skylines,Zeds etc but after owning a Skyline they are pretty average cars IMO.
It was fast but it was boring, the interior was bland and it was more or less a bang for buck buy (shame the head cracked on the day of purchase) :(

Even though my Zed is slower, bigger, done more kms, It looks much better, turns heads, is all about the driver and has so much more character.

I think a tech day will be order in the future, I'm all for a meet and greet at some stage. I have plenty of mates with Skylines but none with Zeds.

Thanks again for the welcome guys :D Look forward to contributing to the forums.
