25th Anniversary - It's only a minor rebuild, but....

I recently bought a Stillen 25th Anniversary model from "95stillen25thAnniversary" for my wife to drive, and for the occasional trip with the kids in the back (it's OK, they're only small at the moment :D).

It needed a bit of work, which the previous owner was honest about, but I have been playing with Zeds for a while, and I have a few spares, so we worked out a reasonable price between us, warts and all. Besides, he's been bitten by the dark side, and he wants the urge of a TT:rolleyes:

I haven't got too many pics of it at the moment, but here's a few.

Yes, It's a nasty dent on the driver's side guard, but it's fixable.

As usual with buying a new Zed, the first thing you do is to compile a list of things to be fixed.

Driver's side power window not working - fixed.

See the broken solder joint on the inside of the power window amplifier box on the bottom right of the pic - all fixed.

The radiator cooller fan - not working - frayed wire on the connector - all fixed.

Heater and A/C motor not working at all. Turned out to be a fused fan control amplifier.

This is the heater blower fan control unit, which is located inside the heater/AC box behind the glovebox.

This is a copper strip, which sits on the power transistor which controls the blower motor speed.

It looks to be designed like a heatsink and a thermal circuit breaker, where if the power transistor gets too hot, it melts the solder on one end of the copper strip, and breaks the electrical contact. That is what happened to this one, Resoldered it, and it's working fine.

Always nice to find original bits on a rare car.

It also has fairly new KYB adjustable front and rear shocks as well. We still need to fit a reasonable stereo and rear speakers, fix the driver's seat (cracked frame), new rear shocker rubbers, and fix speedo, replace the radiator and a few other minor things, but nothing too scary.

It also had a "Doof Doof" 800 watt amp and speakers setup, which won't stay in the car - for sale soon, as I don't think the kids would appreciate it.

It turns out that the car is originally a Nissan Company car from the Gold Coast. It currently needs a little TLC , but it's getting it :zlove:

For those of you that have been around for a while - Yeah, I know - ANOTHER Blue Zed! :D

    BigCol That's what she said...

Nice one! I nearly sold my zed many, many years ago to fund an identical blue 25th anniversary (Baff's old car) so absolutely understand your love of blue zeds. Looks like a nice pickup!

The dice is a nice touch too...:p

It's always nice to see a Z find a new home and get the attention it deserves. Looks like it is very much in capable hands. I look forward to more updates.

BigCol, I think I fell in love with the same car many years ago. Really nice looking Zeds!

Zeo - four, and all blue! Need to cut down though

    Sim300 - stay tuned!

a2zed - I thought about it for a while too. Being local, I could have a close look and make a decision on the spot. I bought the last two Zeds from Brisvegas, sight unseen. This makes a change! PS - Love your work.

Jedi - it's still your fault! Saw that colour on your car, and realised that I now have two choices in Blue Zeds. Just LOVED your Zed and its colour. We don't plan on it being anything like the quality of your car, but it will be a clean streeter :zlove:

Will post more pics when we have it sorted.

    Sell me a blue Z. I'd love a blue Z but they're rare as hen's teeth!
Looks like a lovely car. I personally don't go for the Stillen look, but I appreciate its rarity. Treat her well :)

What frame on the drivers seats knackered? The rails them self or something internal on the seat? As i have a spare set of seats laying around i can donate as parts if needed.

Naurashaun, might just have one up for sale some time soon with a lot of work done to it, but it won't be registered.

Red32 - yep, this one is for trouble, and Yep, I got into trouble for buying it. Hmm, I just read that back to myself.................

Sanouske, the seat back frame appears to have cracked near the right hand bolster where the material always rips. I won't know exactly what's gone wrong until I pull the seat out and strip it, but I really appreciate your generous offer. I'll let you know if I need to take you up on it Nice to know the SA scene is still active and helpful :zlove: Hopefully the four of us can come along on an SA Zed cruise some time soon.

Jack, yeah, four blue ones, although one was originally black - then again, who'd want a black one! :D

No problems. I mainly got them and kept them aside for the tweed material when I felt enthusiastic about fixing the second pair I had. Needless to say if never happened. Plus they're missing bits off the rails and such so really only good for parts. Do let me know if you need it. Happy to help.

And yes. As soon as our "blue" zed is painted ill be pushing to get some more spark out of this quiet bunch of Adelaide z members. The numbers are here but the attendance rates have been poor.

Sanouske, are they power seats? Looks like the frame in mine is busted in two places, and the Aus spec Zeds only come in manual seats. Would be nice to have the original trim wrapped around a power seat setup!
