If the timing belt is off all the cams would be in their resting position, no problem with rotating the crank.
New crankshaft timing sprocket, front and rear sprocket spacers, heavy duty clutch fork kit with upgraded pivot etc, BDE engine mounts, heavy duty idler studs and new injector rubbers on their way from Arizona and through Kentucky already.
Yes, but as I don't intend on keeping these turbos for too long then I don't think it is worth the effort.
Cut the EGR bracket off the lower intake manifold today to make room for all the pipework that will be going through the valley and out the back of the motor Much more room now
look at that sub-standard hack saw......chunk missing out of the blade, blade not attached properly at the bottom mount or the top!......ill bet you werent wearing proper safety equipment either!!! but in all seriousness, the build continues to be impressive.....looking forward to seeing the phats latest revision on the road again!:br:
Hahaha, man that hack saw becomes more hack and less saw with every passing year Cheers Ross, that BBQ semi-finished unveiling day is getting closer and closer
lol, Vin love right there. Big and shiny, just the way I like him, I mean them. Errrrrr .............
Pfft, they wouldn't even know how many cylinders it has let alone how it managed to smoke fifth gear :zlove:
Well as of tonight the cams are finally connected to the crank I changed the intake cams over from the old manual motor as the guys that rebuilt the heads put in auto cams. Not their fault, I didn't check the heads I gave them to rebuild before dropping them off. I tried putting in a RamayZ timing belt top pulley stud and ended up snapping it, so re-installed the OEM one. I've also managed to lose the crank keyway too so will have to get hold of another one before installing the new race harmonic balancer and checking the timing is bang on with the cams again. Then it's time to put on the flywheel, clutch, and gearbox, then slot it all between the chassis rails from underneath. Man it's going to be good to have it all sitting on the ground again with the drive-train in place again!
Must have been the disappointment at not being able to join in on Ross's northern cruise today that got me out in the garage to put together more of the engine Put on a new timing belt (found it amongst a bunch of new parts I'd stored), spent about half an hour making sure it was bang on in line with the cams, put in the Wolf sprocket springs, the CAS and all other covers on. Going to sell the carbon look cam sprocket covers as I'm making a one-piece cam cover, but put it on to look pretty in the mean time. Also put on the new super damper temporarily but need to track down a new crank key as Ive lost the old one Not fitting up the mechanical water pump as am going electric with computer control so no thermostat either. Will have to make up a cover to hide the revised plumbing for all this OR incorporate an extension to the one-piece cam cover instead. I'll be fitting up the clutch next and gearbox. Just need to get that key for the crank first to triple check the crank is at TDC relative to the lower timing belt cover and super damper. The upgraded engine mounts>>
Looks good dub :zlove: I wouldnt worry too much about the lower cover lining up with harmonic . So long as you have counted your belt teeth between gears and crank sprocket you should be fine .
Did you find it while not looking for it haha? That sh!t always happens to me Do you have a date you're hoping to have the engine in, Brad? Or just going with the flow?
