What can you put in the back seat of a 2+2 realistically?

Maybe a gym bag or a carton of nectar but not too much else of any worth. Oh all right, maybe a kid or two if they are very small. Mates don't fit unless they are 55kg feather-weights usually sporting coke bottle glasses or they are elite jockeys.

Out with the ridiculous back seat - in with the sound system!

    Sound deadened with wires run:

Box lined, wires connected with amps on both ends(1 x mono block, 1 x 4 channel):

I had to then remove the amps in order to secure the box via bolting it to the swivel points from the rear seat (top 2 pics), then created custom brackets for the base at the front (bottom 2 pics):

Removing the amps and re-installing was no small feat, I am not a feather-weight and to get this all in properly took a shitload of squirming and skin off my knuckles. Where is an Asian when you need one?

Newly made pods in the doors for more loud:

This is what the unit looks like behind the seat nearly finished:

I'm not ready to reveal the exterior of the Phoenix yet as I am still having wheel/ride height work done, I believe you will like it though. People in Roxby do stop and in their tracks and point when I drive by, I even had the garbage man stop and get out of his truck to take the time to tell me it was "the sickest thing I've ever seen" and he lingers when he pulls up next to my driveway to simply admire it on Thursday mornings... Wait, where was I? Oh yeah, so in addition to the stopping and staring they will now be blown away by the phat DJ RE beats creating shock waves through the hood!

I will get it engineered as soon as I have it all up and working, then it's officially a 2+0 in a 2+2 chassis. Shouldn't be any dramas... I hope? ;)

Youve done a really good job there. I have considered losing the back seat on many occasions. If only it was a worth while weight saving.

ive had 7 people in my zed... 2 6ft+

had full workshop argon cylinders in the back and then some... with the fold down seats you can carry heaps...

    Plus all the important cargo.

great job and all but i dislike the idea of losing the seats.. so good to just chuck something behind.

But L'n'P, you're like a bit more upmarket and refined than I am, hence the undie-rigor mortis inducing cargo, I pick up 1 toothless meth-head with a 'gunt' at the absolute best, so it's relevant for me. :p

    infraction? :(

    Some stats:

    Additional weight = 60kg (approx).

Additional space = 100mm where legs would traditionally go (approx), so it does have merit for storage, including a genuinely decent parcel shelf now.

    Noise makers: 2 x 12" custom built subs. 4 x 9x6" speakers (2 in back normal location, 2 next to subs). 2 x 6.5" in door pods + tweeters.

Time: Long time! Don't go thinking this looks a cinch, it took months of research, planning, measuring, manufacturing and installing (time, willingness and miscellaneous factors permitting).

    Cost: DIY for roughly $2k.
