got the car up, got my new 45 degree pliers, got some new coolant. now i just need the hose which ill get from repco tomorrow. does anyone know if its 8mm or 6mm? ill just use EFI fuel hose. i have 1 foot of each at home atm. not enough? ill go buy 3 or 4 ft?
8mm internal diameter but the exteral diameter can vary between hose brands. take one of the old nissan hose compression clamps and pliers with you and see if you can slip it over the new hose ok. in the tight confines at rear of engine, its not fun trying to slip the clamp into position. oh, and dont use efi hose. eric posted a story on this some time ago. You want heater hose only.
I distinctly recall Eric saying not to use EFi hose as it tends to go hard . That heater hoses remain soft and flexible and is what we should be using . Take the old hose and get it matched so your compression rings will fit .
5 hours of stuffing around. It was a lot easier since egr is gone and npower dumps are smaller. But still, geez. The top end of the hose was almost as hard as the bottom! Almost ended up doing a plenum pull but couldn't find a 12mm socket. Well im glad its done. Now I've got to buy some coolant and hope I byoassed the right se tion :/ Thanks for all the help guys. And yes couldn't have done it without the 45 deg needle nose pliers. Or the straigjt ones.
Seen it -devil is in the detail! From the same thread "The R7 rated hose, which is what has been used in this case is only rated to 110*C, ambient". Nothing wrong with 30R9 which is what I originally advised
The reason I don't like to use EFI hose in the tight confines of the bastard area, is that heater hose is just a little easier to work with.
