Stage Z (The Jpeg Leg)

    Ohay. So, everyone seems to have an epic Z thread and now I want one. It's more for myself than anything, so my apologies for being selfish. Get your own thread :D

    My aim here is to get everything down on (virtual) paper so I can pace myself and set goals. I'm the kind of person who wants to get everything done at once. In the world of cars, pertaining to my current financial circumstances, that simply isn't viable. So let's begin!

    Stock as a slightly shined pebble. Stock rims and kit, hood etc
    It's red. Any special name for it? ;D
    Targa Top. Yeah baby. Best of all, no cupholders in the back.
    Velour interior? The nice felty stuff.
    No. Friggin. Cruise Control. What is this I mean really.

    - 23% tint side windows (got done for that quick smart
    - ??% god knows what on the back. Probably ~10%
    - Turbo timer. yih bru
    - Stayintune sticker on the back.. that a place in Melbourne?
    - Supposed tune. All I can say is that I don't really like it. It lags for 3.2k then hits boost up until 5.5k. Then wheel spin! Need 285's :cool: Maybe this is the standard tune. Definitely changing it. Fuel economy is (even more) shit (than standard).
    - Sony head unit
    - Some of the worst wiring I've ever seen. May god have mercy on that man's (previous owner) soul.

    What I've done
    - Removed the shagged head unit and an hero'd after seeing the wiring
    - Respawned and had at it. Took about 5 hours to get everything wired properly (not the first time we'd done this either, at least 6 cars before hand. It was a total mess. There were two power supplies, two grounds and 4 wires that mimicked speaker wires. I had to replace many of these as they were frayed and exposed)
    - Wired in 4 Cadence 75W RMS speakers. 2 6", 2 5x7" (or whatever they are)
    Of course the the two 5x7's didn't fit in the back, so I did the ole flipperoo and mounted them facing downwards in the stock holes with... erm. Some improv mounting fittings. I'll pic soon. The fronts were a bit easier. There was already some sort of wood panel on the door that was easy to adjust to fit in the speaker. Covered myself with a 12" 500W RMS Pioneer Sub, Pioneer Head Unit and a 1000W JBL Amp. Not a bad setup, but I really want a customer box in my boot.

    What I Want To Do
    Much to the dismay of others, I'm sure, I want to rice my Z up. Except I don't want it to just look the part, I want it to roar. So first things first, increasing the capabilities of my Z to handle the power.
    - Suspension ie coilovers
    - Wheels.. I'm looking for something subtle. I thinkg 17-18's, 5 spoke, a dark color. shiny black would be nice. I still haven't found what I'm looking for with these, but I'm taking my time.
    - BPU's... I'm really unsure about where to start here. Plenum pull. EBC. Pads and calipers. This is where I really need help. Pretty much.. What I want is an upgrade tree. So I can start climbing and work my way up. Can someone help me with this?
    - I'd eventually like a respray to a really nice blue. Long way in the future.
    - Kit. I'm going for this.. haters gon' hate.

    I love the fat look.
    - Ear blasting stereo

    All in all. I want a big, fat Z, with modest rims and a nice paint job. I want a rad stereo ;D And last but not least. Power wise I'd like about 350rwkw. For the interior.. I actually like the stock look. I'd like gauges that blend in with the normal interior. I want a thousand women line up and bend over as I drive past.

    So. Thoughts and opinions appreciated ;D

    Also, you'll be much more loved if you put up the pictures in the posts. People dont like opening up pictures around these parts.

    Why do all the kids want to take the nice late model zeds and turn them into race cars??

    Also I'm sorry but that bodykit looks like arse and I'd probably kick it if I saw it in real life.

    Agreed. But its his car he can do what he wants, No matter how much we all say "it looks crap" "you ruined a good z" ect I don't think his going to change his mind.

    Haha wow, no one likes it huh? Everyone here a rice hater? That was just an example really. I want something solid that looks strong... I guess haha! So you've all had an opinion on the kit... can anyone help me with a build tree?

    you will need to go through and make sure you have good compression/no water leaks/no fault codes/no oil leaks/reasonable condition turbos plus other maintnance stuff.

    the i would get:

    EBC
    pod or the selin intake
    NISTUNE
    3" dumps/midpipe kit
    intercoolers if your going over 16psi.
    clutch of some sort(f1 racing best bang for buck)

    and a tune to bring it all together.

    that should get you a reasonable output depending on the condition of the motor/turbos.

    PS: rice sucks ass i got rid of all that shit on mine and am still in the process

    Thanks! This is a start! I was onto the EBC, that was my main thing.. So the first step is really plenum pull and all the jazz that goes with that? I heard that the stock engine is good for ~16 PSI with no real upgrades.. I don't really know if this is true. What sort of boost can you run before and after upgrading your intercoolers? Hopefully my Turbro's are in good condition. I shouldn't need to upgrade them with the power I'm going for.

    Also, in regards to the kit, I did have another idea which is less rice. Same rims except lowered with a smaller subtle kit. But I haven't found anything I like with that yet. It's probably going to be one of the last things I focus on. I was thinking the 350/370 rims would look good, but I kinda wanted deep dish.

    max psi depends on the tuner and you engine. you cant just wack 16psi without having it tuned. A guy on here has seen 26psi on stockers with pre turbo methanol injection but as i said previously it changes from engine to engine Your tuner will be able to determine what max boost you can run. have i mentioned TUNING lol.

    intercoolers above stock can give you better flow with less pressure drop and the added superior cooling. If you can afford them get them.

    as for the kit and wheels i have no idea mate im not really into that stuff. I got 18x10 and 18x9 because i could fit bigger tyres on for grip.

    I would get the power first and then work on putting that power to the ground then your Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements.
