    Hey everyone..

I thought I'd post my introduction here. I've been a bit of lurker, just like Slithz, and have obtained a wealth of general knowledge from these forums and I, also, would like to thank you all for your amazing posts and progress with all of your beautiful machines.

Firstly, I'll introduce myself personally. My name is Tom, I'm 19 and from Victoria. I'm currently at Uni and working at a pizza fast food restaurant and another fast food chain. I'm studying Geology, which has become a bit of a passion for me since getting into it. Second only to this, my red 1994 300ZX TT Fairlady has become my greatest passion and wills me to continue doing what I do so that I can enjoy my free time with this beautiful machine. I found it in St Albans in Melbourne. I probably paid a bit too much for it, but a vehicle, let alone a Z, this old and in this condition was worth every dollar. I'm not saying how much, as it's rather irrelevant as I've already spent the money ;) I'll just say not over 15k.

Anyway, it's a mint condition, almost stock (save for a tune, BOV's and an exhaust) Jspec with 150k on the clock (140k when I got it). The only blemishes; slight stone chipping on the hood/bonnet (whatever you call it here). Never understood how people could use the phrase 'pride and joy' whilst referring to a vehicle, however, now I can. I've had it since late February from an owner who imported it ten years ago with 100k on the dial. Do the math and you'll realise this person kept it garaged and virtually undriven through those years. Full service history, a very short list of things the previous owner bought for it and a yearning for a beast to be released; potential to be reached and a ravenous hunger for the road.

As you can understand, it's not difficult for a Z to be a P plater friendly sleeper. I plan to keep it that way until I can truly drive it the way it urges, the way I feel it lust for every time I turn her over. To the 1/4 mile for the first time in my life with my Manual Z sees me run a 14.1 pass with a 0-100 in 6 seconds flat, defeating a BA FPV V8. Quiet satisfying, I'll tell you. I've installed a Sony head unit (heads up, looking for a bracket mount as mine was... misplaced... in my stepfather's shed), 4 Cadence speakers (for lack of better words, a massive pain in my rectum to install) and an Alpine 300 watt RMS sub.

So that's basically the setup. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about it, or me, or anything. I'm also keen for a meetup in or around Melbourne, or near that area, so I'll be on the lookout but if you can, PM and I'll have a look :)

Nice to meet you all, I hope to expand my bank of knowledge on this glorious vehicle I have the privilege to drive each day and hopefully good times are on the horizon :)

First up $14,999 is a good price for a 1994 manual TT :p

Have to suggest purchasing a nice boost controller, if its not turned up now then just wait for some real fun. ;):)

That shade of red is awesome on the z32 and you have a light up rear centre panel o_O dibs..

    Nice looking car...

Look after it, and it will look after you...

I hate to be a party pooper but you know its illegal to drive a twinturbo on your P's??? Being a P plater, and driving a zed, you will attract attention. Good luck.

Haha thanks McLovin. As I said, I think I may wait until I'm off my P's or close to it until I start modifying power. I certainly didn't buy it because of the TT. Nice to know I wasn't ripped off, or so much anyway ;D Glowy 300zx panel? Mein ;D
    Try here. http://tech.aus300zx.com/IllumRearPanel/irp.htm

I do realise it's illegal.. I've had 4 different police officers with their heads in my engine bay on 3 different occasions. The turbos just aren't there (; I'm not silly with it, I don't do burnouts or drift, I don't hit boost down the main street of where I live. I drive sensibly.. err.. most of the time ;D So honestly, I don't see why I should not be able to drive this car due to drugged up drunken p platers driving with 7 in the car doing 160 and crashing. Not the sole reason they banned high powered vehicles for younger drivers but certainly a notable one. You're certainly not ruining my fun JEDI, thanks for the advice nonetheless :)

I surprisingly don't attract a massive amount of attention simply because it looks almost stock, however I do need to be careful. I will certainly look after it :)

haha, good point, I had my car at least a week before I actually laid eyes on my turbos when I got under it to do the oil.

Nice intro and car. Enigma will be licking his chops as it's the same colour as his.

well spoken. never ran your plates to determine if it's registered as a turbo?

    welcome!

    HI Tom
Very nice looking "stock as a rock" car you have.
Keep it that way. Don't ruin it with body kits.
Nice to see a Sensible P plater. How long till you get your full license?
Belated - welcome to the madness.

Very nice car. I like the fact that you've kept the wheels stock, it's like white walls on a classic Harley, pays hommage to the era. Plus the less aesthetic modification you do the less you'll be pestered.

Haha yes. My friend reckons he can see them from the top, I think he's hallucinating. You can see the pipes leading down and just, JUST barely the edge, but nothing more ;D

I honestly do not believe it is registered as a turbo. Probably to reduce Some sort of import costs? Not sure, however it has been checked by multiple Police officers. Whether they ran the plates, I'm not so sure :)

Hoping to make it, a yes at this point in time. Looking forward to it!

Ooh... ahh well you may not like the plans I have for it then :D Thank you for the welcome. It will be 2 1/2 years of under the radar until I am on my full license.

I'm not actually in Melbourne, but rather in Ballarat, about an hour or so away. Anyone on the forum from around there? I know that there are at least 5 other Z's here, and only 2 are turbocharged, and 1 mobile! So it would be nice to catch up with some enthusiasts around here.

Thanks a lot. Same to yours, I love the colour :) I'll definitely be keeping the wheels as long as I have the car! (not necessarily on the car though haha)

    Welcome to the forum.

Does your insurance company think that it's a twin turbo? You'll be chipping away at rocks for quite a few years if you accidently write off someone's new Porsche and insurer finds out that your are on P's in a twin turbo car registered as a non turbo car.

Hopefully it will never happen, you sound like a smart guy but you just never know.

    Regards,
    Evan.

Definitely something to think about, which I have. If I'm in the situation I'll make sure I choose to hit the gutter or the Astra rather than the Porsche!

The insurance company are under the impression it's a non-turbo. I intend to keep my car in one piece, so hopefully I won't have to deal with the repercussions of my risks.

It's all good fun though. Whatever happens, happens. Life goes on, take it in stride.

    Also, apologies for not making it to the tech day last Saturday. Father's Day prep was more important (;

Why bother with insurance if it's a turbo and the insurance company think it's a NA?

Haha yes I'm doing an engineering elective also. What elective are you doing?

That doesn't make too much sense? As long as they don't find out and think it's an NA then they'll cover me in an accident. That's why I'm bothering.
