    Comments:
The time has come to put my much beloved 300ZX on the market. I've owned it since December 1999 - over 11 years ago - and it's been a joy to own. I fell in love with them in the early 1990's but it wasn't till the grey import market open up that I was able to afford one. Back then, as now, there was a lot of poor quality vehicles imported. I can happily say that I spent many months checking out 300's to find one that lived up to my standards. I purchased this vehicle directly from the importers.

This car has tre usual 300ZX features: 2+2, twin turbo, T-Top roof, air conditioned with full climate control, automatic transmission (more about this in a minute), cruise control.

So what makes this 300ZX unique?

Genuine, 1 Australian owner. I can give you a full history of this vehicle (all receipts since 1999). It has been serviced every 5000 km with synthetic oil and filters evry time. It had 42,000 km on the clock when I bought it. Of course, there's no guarantee that it's genuine with imports so the 100,000 service was done early (Parts). It now has 180,000 and has had the second 100,000 km service done not too long ago.

Shift At Will. This is probably the most exciting addition for any automatic 300ZX. Flappy Paddles! SAW is a complete AT computer replacement that gives you manual control over the shift changes through the controls on the steering wheel. The computer also has automatic mode with optimised shift points and elevated line pressures. I'll say it again - flappy paddles. (Review) (Home Page)
Also on the transmission has an external cooler to ensure it can't overheat (How To) - it did once a long time ago and that resulted in a full rebuild. I took that opportunity to increase the stock line pressures.
Did I mention the flappy paddles?

Navan accessories. Navan accessories are factory options in Japan. The Navan automatic shift knob is rare and highly sought after. Combine that with an even rarer Navan rear wing (one of only a couple in Australia), and one of the best looking wings ever, in my opinion.

Exhaust. There needs to be a balance between performance and noise. I wanted a nice deep note and a performance boost but minimum drone. This 300ZX has a dual 2 inch exhaust with high flow cats.
The dump pipes have been replaced with 2.5 inch stainless steel dumps (How To).
New O2 sensors were installed at the same time (How To).

Intake. One of the first mods was to remove the air box and install a K and N pod cleaner (How To).
There's always been a lot of discussion about the need for screens on the air flow meter. I removed the screens. I still believe that this is one of the simplest ways to make a surprising difference in performance.

Boost. It's always hard to determine the history of a car in Japan but this one came with the boost slightly above standard. Adding some boost jets has elevated that to about 16 psi (How To).

Computer. Of course, any significant increase in boost should be accompanied with an updates computer chip. This 300ZX has the well respected Hi-Tech replacement ECU.

Brakes and suspension. The suspension has been tightened significantly with the addition of Tien coil-overs (Review of similar product). Actually, I did this to lower the ride a little for the looks. It also made a big difference to the handling.
The ride was tightened up further wil a full underbody rubber kit (How To).
A front strut brace finishes handling improvements.
Slotted rotors improve the braking performance and a master brake cylinder brace was also added (Review).

Body. The paintwork is in surprisingly good condition for a car of this age. It was obvious that it hadn't seen a lot of sun in Japan and this carried on here as well. It has always been garaged.
The centre panel has been replaced with a vented version and skirts compliment the look (but I will admit that I'm not completely happy with the way the skirts were fitted).
I was luck enough to pick up an illuminated rear centre panel but the modulator unit was faulty. Adding a new modulator will bring it back to life.
Chrome 8.5 inch wheels with 245x30x18 Nexan N3000 tyres (Review) contrast the midnight blue perfectly.
    Side windows are tinted.
The headlight bulbs are replaced with xenon bulbs (How To) and the driving lights are upgraded (How To).

Interior. Custom made sheepskin front seat covers
Sony MP3 head unit and speakers.
The dome light has been replaced with an LED lamp.
Of special note is that the dash has no cracks, which is uncommon for a 300ZX.

Other mods. An underdrive crank pully has been fitted to reduce drag by the accesories ( Review) and an over-drive water pump pulley fitted to maintain water flow at low revs (Review).
The hoses under the plenum have been removed and by-passed (How To).
The power windows operate when the ignition is not on (it really bugs me when I can't open the window without turning the ignition on) (How To).
The overspeed alarm has been disconnected - this was the first thing to go after driving for 4 hours with bing-bing-bing in my ear (How To).
The cruise control has been modified to allow it to be set at speeds above 100 kph (How To).
The ignition module (PTU) has been relocated from the front of the engine (How To).
The AIV has been deleted (How To).

Other maintanence. It's not a young vehicle so there has been some failures over the years. The heater core caused me some grief (that's not unusual). Fortunately it's an automatic so the replacement can be done without removing the dash (How To), and I got pretty good at it as the first replacement leaked as much as the old one. Finally another replacement fixed it.
The drive shaft centre bearing is notorious for failing. It did. The problem has been solved with a 1 piece drive shaft.

Extras. T-Tops bags. PPP ignition disable system.

Full disclosure. There are some minor things that need attention. The thermal fan viscous hub needs replacing. The Z ran a little hot last summer and I tried to resurrect the hub without much success. It should be replaced before next summer.
There is a small oil leak somewhere. I'm think it's from the rocker covers or the rear engine seal, but it does leave some drops on the garage floor.
I'm sure you want to know if its ever been in a accident. No, but I did dent the front guard on a post and some idiot reversed into the passenger door. Both have been professionally repaired.

As you can see, this 300ZX is largely stock with only bolt-on bits and simple mods. I am happy to say that this one of the best 300ZX around. It has brought me years of joy and fun. I'll be really sad to see it go.

You can own this Z for $11,500. PM me or call on 0419 770 558.

need lotto win or more garages to add to collection

I need a lotto win or more garages to add this zed to a collection.

Now this is one nice zed, don't bother buying a cheapy zed for $6k then spend another $6k to even get in the ball-park of this car.

Good luck with the sale... Now what are those winning numbers?

Do I detect a note of disappointment or criticism here Ron?

The car was very special and OZZ and I exchanged PMs about it. I would have much preferred to see it listed on the Forum, and I offered to edit his ad for him and re-post it to save him rewriting all of the information, but he was firm that the price was not for publication.

With the High end Zed market at the moment you will probably still make that time frame.
