    Hey guys,

I have a stock exhaust on my N/A

Is there any performance to be gained if any by upgrading to a catback on an n/a?
The sound is always good with a cat back system, i was thinkin bout going stainless 2.3/4" from headers to cats, and same into h pipe with resonators, then 3" into straight through muffs

Any pointers on what to use?

    Thanks

Don't go any higher than 2.5 on an NA, any more and you'll lose power (even if it's just a catback). You'll get some gain. It'll look and sound better too :)

Extractors with 2.5" pipes to cats through to x-pipe muffler (better than an h pipe) and 2.5" again to mufflers if you want to go the full 9 yards.

In terms of specific items, many swear by the UAS center x-pipe to eliminate drone and provide good flow, but IIRC it's ~$400. The HKS Hi-Power catback is a personal favourite of mine too, but it's only available for a 2 seater.

thanks mate, mines 2+2 so i appreciate the advice on the setup, my other Z is an import 2+0 N/A with standard to cats, from there back is 2.5" into x pipe then resonators, into 3" pipe with resonators again, into straight through mufflers with 4.25" tips lol "316 stainless"

Sounds extream gnarly but the power it has lacks over my stock N/A aus spec lol....

Actually this should be quite an improvement over stock........ 316 S/S is not cheap stuff either!

i was suprised, my j-spec n/a has the huge system on it, compared to my stock aus spec n/a, it has no where near as much power up until about 120kmh, if you unleash it in 4th it hauls ass all the way to redline. The Aus spec N/A hauls ass all the way but not as much as the Jspec in 4th open throttle if that makes sence lol

seems the system lowered the Kw and increased the torque if anything

it is not that loud in the car unless it gets up over 4,500rpm then it turns into a roar of chaos sound! and out the back end its so loud i can be heard from over 5km away if i get up the throttle lol

thats not what i want on my aus spec, im after a nice clean note just to enjoy the sound of the Vg30de

Apparently more backpressure increases torque on the lower end of the rev range... I've never seen any actual hard evidence to support that claim though.

i have to agree, comparing between the two cars, one with low back pressure and one with stock. there is a difference on low down torque, being both n/a its noticable enough when driving. if both were high tuned TT's the dyno would prob be the only way to determine

hey my n/a 2seater has a after market exhaust in it not sure what the size is though or if its just the tip but anyway it has a good sound but when you put your foot down and red line, it doesnt have that high note and also in idle you can hear the engine more than the exhaust does yours do any of that is really what i was wondering?

2.5" high flow cat and muffler, DONE.
then spend your money else where.

USE 2.5 inch dual X over stainless steel system.

Full tuned extractors give you the most all round performance.

nah mine up towards redline roars like a monster truck and looses the high note sound, but yes idle is verry quiet with a nice v6 gurgle sound
