    Thanks Chad.

Most of the interior is done in some kind of black suede or something like that. Most of it is done really badly but the dash is quite good. Edit: actually it seems rather wrinkly in places. Oh well.

This is what I've got of the dash, I can take more if you want.

Yeah, the dash actually looks OK even as it is (photos make it look worse than it is) but the rest of it is pretty terrible.

Hey Peter, congratz again on the purchase mate, will be keeping an eye on the build.

Bring on a tech day, keen to attend one! :p

A couple of questions that need answering since Peter's not asking them. Some of these I really should know the answer to but it's been forever since I had a good muck around with a Z and I've fogotten a lot. Also my standard excuse is "I don't know... it's an NA, I never owned one of those".

    1) Anyway, what's this and can we get rid of it, and how to do so?

    2) The vertical bar from the hood latch down:

It will probably prevent the rad support panel from bending when you push on it, aside from that does it serve any great structrual value? Have people removed it and then regretted it later when they leaned on the rad support?

    3) Carbon cannister... what's involved in removing it and is it a good idea or is it needed?

First one is the windscreen washer pump.

Second, I pulled mine off with no issues. Putting it back on though. I removed mine for clearance for the rad fan.

Third, yes you can remove it. It stinks though. Filters vapour from the fuel tank and feeds back to the engine. Not sure on how to remove, have a search ;) I replaced mine with one off a R33 as it is nice and small and cost $10.

The windscreen washer pump is in front of the front wheel? Odd.

Hey, that's handy, we have an R33 lying around....

Yep, dunno why it's there when the tank is in the boot... Kinda surprised it works with that much suction pipe on it.

Wait, what? So in a 2 seater water is pumped from the back left corner, all the way to the front right corner, then all the way back to the windscreen? Way to go Nissan. And it's not like it's a matter of convenience using the same parts from a 2+2 with the water bottle in that corner, since that bottle has it's own pumps built in and doesn't use the one pictured!

    weight distribution :p
Sometimes left scratching your head about the logic behind some of the decisions from the Nissan Design Department.

Although they would be equally astounded that we're still repairing them 22 years later.

Nothing we are doing to this car at the moment can be called 'repairing' by even the most generous standards...

    "preventative maintenance"
If its not there anymore, it cant break.
With the washer pump, make sure the check valves (or whatever they use) are in place and working. Nothing like hard braking and having the windscreen nozzles spray water at you.

Good luck. Doing something similiar right now on my track car. Hope it works out.

Lol, been there done that. Shit myself the first time it happened. Than it became quiet annoying until it got fixed.

Thanks, do you have a build thread anywhere or the like?

I like this idea, it validates my "I don't know what this bit does therefore I don't need it" policy!
