Alright, at a set of traffic lights my check engine light came on and the car started miss firing pretty badly and lost a lot of power... isnt limited to 2500. Ecutalk Display cannot connect to the ecu and just freezes so i can't check error codes. I'm going to try a replacement AFM and PTU but i'm in need of help.
Its not limited to 2500.... I'm going to go over my injector connectors next as my coil packs look all good. Engine check light is constant.
Im saying thanks because the thread title made me lol. ECU talk not interfacing, id check ecu plug, disconnect, contact clean and reconnect. Other wise try a spare ECU. PTU is always a good way to go, AFM wont be a problem, disconnect it if you like, should still idle and run to 2.5k
Is your ECU socketed? If so, open it up and make sure the eprom is seated properly. I had this same problem when the chip popped out of my ECU.
Yes. it's an ecu issue. You're running in "failsafe" mode. Let me guess, your auxilery fan is running also while your engine check light is on? As said earlier, check ECU connector. Check PTU connector. If your ECU is socketed, pop it open and check the Eprom is seated properly and no corrosion around it (also a general inspection of the rest of the components in there will help to make sure there's no obvious dry joint or component that's clearly flagged). ...on a side note, check your ENGINE CONT. fuse in the pass side of the engine bay fuse box. If that blows it can have interesting issues regarding running and dash lights too. That's a starting point anyway, once this is done, post up again and we can go from there.
Yeah i just tried Ecutalk with a laptop and no go. Seems my nistune might be playing up or have jumped out of its board? Will have a look thanks a lot guys
Turns out its heat related guys, i turned the car on now and it runs perfectly..... i guess the 40 degree heat here has had an affect on my NIStune board.
Hmm, well heat related issues are usually due to expansion and contraction of joints/components. If your ECU/Nistune daughter board is showing these symptoms, then i would investigate further. (i've never heard of an intermittant heat related fault on a Nistune before). Still wouldn't hurt to crack the ECU open to make sure everything is seated properly, and the daughter board wire are soldered or secured properly. End of the day, you don't want this happening again.
Will be getting it checked out by Yavuz at unigroup engineering tomorrow as he is the one who installed the board.
Hi my Z was running like shit too and it turned out to be the fuel computer dry solder joints on the transistors and a faulty capacitor. You could try the fuel computer bypass to check that as i did.:zlove:
search for FPCU bypass, not "fuel computer" It's simple as... open up boot, lift spare, open lid, unwrap electrical tape from around cable, find white wire, short it to earth. Done - bypassed.
Problem is back, i'm removing the ecu and taking it back to unigroup to see if its the problem.. also have a spare PTU to try. Only problem i have now is the car is hesitating very badly, i have petrol pissing out of my fuel filter and the car is blowing black smoke so i think the filter will need a change along with plugs etc but i'm stuck till tomorrow. Also yesterday the timing on my ecutalk display hit 62* so i'm hoping the motor will still be ok after getting fixed.
Fuel pissing out of fuel filter is NOT GOOD. Go and buy another filter and replace it before starting car again or it might catch fire. Super Cheap / Repco should have one and it's a 5 minute job to do. Cheers Dave
Jesus Christ, first thing to do is replace your fuel filter! NOW! Then, do another check after that is done. Also, you don't need a catch can. If you're getting that much blow-by to need one, then you need a new set of rings.
Alright, had the NIStune re-soldered, changed the fuel filter and took her for a spin and everything seems fine. It was miss-firing slightly at first start but after taking it for a spin it quickly evened out and ran smoothly. Heres hoping it doesn't happen again!
if the fuel filter was leaking fuel, then it was probly badly blocked up, and was the likely cause of the initial hesitations you experienced
