On behalf of AZA a huge thanks to everyone who came around yesterday to help with the cleanup!

Unfortunately we had quite a bit of difficulty getting into AZA's house with roads been closed and the sheer volume of traffic - but we got there in the end.

Thanks to everyone who spent hours just to get there. Also thanks to everyone who bought Generators and Gernis - the day would not have been possible without this equipment.

It was a very productive day with around 20 people showing up throughout the day.

The day started at about 8am - first cleaning the outdoor area with a gerni before emptying the house. Cara and I made a start on cleaning the bathroom and toilet. It was amazing seeing so much mud line every surface of bathroom. The kitchen was pulled about and cleaned before the floors and walls of the house were washed out with the gerni.

At this point the house was looking 100 times cleaner than when we started. So now it was time for the lunch break with Pex and Cara cooking up a storm - bbq sausgaes on bread and ham and chicken rolls.

Once everyone took a well deserved break it was straight back into it. The gyprock walls started to be pulled down and the kitchen cupboards/draws got a second clean.

Finally it was time to make a start on the garage. I would have to say this was the most awful part of the day. Everything was covered in oil and mud making it extremely hard to keep a hold on anything. The zed was moved out and up onto the trailer before being taken away for some much needed TLC. It was then time to finish emptying the garage before using 4L of degreaser and a gerni to clean the mud and oil out.

The day finished up at around 4:30 giving people time for a much deserved break before heading to Baz's Chardy Shak.

Again a huge thank-you for everyone's help. The amount of work which got done yesterday was amazing! Aza is now to a point where he has a few little things to go through before beginning to put his house back together. It will require new gyprock to be applied to the walls, a new kitchen installed, walls painted, carpet and tiles layed and a bit more last minute cleaning.

If anyone wishes to help AZA in rebuilding his house over the coming weeks - please feel free to contact AZA directly through PM. He will have a better idea of how to go forward and what help is needed than me.

Pictures to come over the next few days.

    QLD spirit

Well its abit hard to know where to start and who to thank there were so many people that came to help yesterday, I walked around the house for the days before trying to work out where to start, I think i spent half the morning directing people to get to my place and its awesome that people spent hours getting to my place. I wish that could have been easier for everyone. Fortunetly I remained composed all day and tried to direct everyone as best possible, as I said I had no idea where we had to start. What Ive gained and seen from this last week is the spirit of people in this situation. We fed people were asked if we needed a hand offered advice and just everyone wanting to pitch in and lend a hand, its one thing to see it on tv but another to see it first hand. Massive thanks to all too many names to name aus300zx is such a great bunch.. thats all from me before I get teary eyed :)

AZA - Keep ya chin up mate.
The ANZAC spirit is still alive and well. Very proud to be called an Aussie.
The Australian people dig in harder and have massive hearts, better than any one else in the world. eg. Aust floods Vs New Orleans.
Our people (Prime Minister all through to workers) were on site before and just waiting for the water to start dropping. USA seemed to take ages to get into gear.
    The Aussie Spirit ROCKs !

    Great job guys.

Must hurt to have to pull your house apart like that and throw away all your sodden belongings.

I see you are drying out the Ikea kitchen drawers. Did they survive the drowning ?

They did for the most part Stef.... the front panel will need to be pulled off an replaced and the bottom part of the draw will need to be replaced - but the metal sides, railings and runners and handles are all ok to be reused
