November sounds like a good month for it..at least we wont have issues with the Nationals around April..

A huge event that is cancelled if weather goes wrong lol, call the 2nd date an insurance policy of it being held at least once

Quite a few of us do it more than once on an invite only basis anyway,so its nothing new to alot of us doing it more than once a year

    BigCol That's what she said...

Not that I have a vested interest anymore, because I have handed over 100% to Kingy from here on and have nothing to do with the organisation of this cruise, but I thought I'd add some input.

I too agree with Peter that making it one big event for the year adds that something special. A pain in the ass to organise, but special. A lot of people make an effort to go on a big cruise who might not otherwise. People like Chrispy, IB & Lou in previous years who have come from interstate to join us. Again a really special thing for a once in a year cruise.

Then in comparison have a look at the number of people who went on the exploration run who made it to the real thing. VERY FEW. Why? Well there's a few reasons, but if it is a run they've done recently then there is less reason to do it again, especially if the weather is a bit rubbish.

If the new start date is November, it gives 5 months to re-plan a date. should it be required. Besides, in 7 cruises this years was the first time there had ever been a cancellation (although we still got bad weather twice). Still not a bad average.

Is that why you didn't make it on Sunday? Or are you afraid of a bit of water? :p

Col, I like what you've done with this cruise in years past, and I like what Kingy's doing with it for the future. Keep it as a once a year thing as a major forum cruise - but of course people can do it whenever they want on a personal basis.

November can be problematic for me for family reasons, so on a purely personal basis the best weekend as a permanent lock in for me is the last weekend in February. I know that goes against what most people want, but c'est la vie - if I can do it on the selected day I will; if I'm interstate I won't. The only regular in-forum conflict with November I can think of might be the Berri Street Machine Show and Shine, an S.A. event which somehow Victoria usually provides more Zeds than S.A. This is usually mid-late November, but I don't know this year's dates yet.

The only other comment I will make is to refer to the rainfall history for Lorne ~click here and scroll down to statistics~ which shows that November historically has a higher rainfall and more rain days than February ....... in terms of mean temps and rainfall, its pretty close to April!

    Cheers, Mikey.

once a year event makes it that more enjoyable. i seriously look forward to a massive g.o.r cruise because not many people post and all of the sudden u have almost every1 in vic going and some interstaters... dont make it 2.....

the g.o.r is always there if they want to go in a lil group or plan there own route and put in the coming events section but for the proper g.o.r cruise leave it as THE ANNUAL CRUISE. every1 looks forward to it...

rocks across the road, howling winds, trees blown over and being with a bunch of t/t's on a wet, cold stormy winters day doesnt really do it for me Col :) (+ LOWZX and ZXTCY did it on a beautiful sunny day not long ago with a few other zeds )

    here is my 2 cen ( I don't give a rats a/hole ) lol ,,, when its on ......

but i do think that there should only be one big GOR cruise ..

having two or more doesn't really make it interesting for me anyway ..

this is partly the reason we didn't go on this one ...

plus i dont have a diff/cradle in the car .i pulled it out on the gor day . my car is but naked . on stands .. .. it looks like a top fuela the way its sitting lol

In the interest of better burnouts (JK) I'll vote Movember 2.

    red32 You talkin' to me?

Car problems aside, I don't really give a vermins derriere as to when the cruise take place. My attendance will always be predicated on whether I work the previous evening/night shift (that's why I didn't go on the last one).
Obviously weather conditions and traffic will govern how we behave, but we are ALWAYS sensible, aren't we?
There is nothing which can compare with the sense of self-importance of being part of a convoy the front of which is leaving Apollo Bay while the tail has not yet reached the town (only takes about 40 Zeds). Love it!

I hadn't made any comment on this cause I'm new around here and I haven't even got a Z32 yet, but I'm sure planning to have one by the last weekend in November, really looking forward to this. Gotta get going and find a car.
