bad news, after not startmg my car for a few moths it is having the same issue.. im thinking all the moisure in the air from all the recent rain has messed it up. could this be my series 1 PTU dying or should i buy a conzult cable and try to get some error codes?

    thanks.

Use a paper clip to check error codes. Look in the tech section and search for "diagnostic".

ok ive removed it and the parts spin freely, the half circle part is in tact inside... i guess the problem is in the wiring?

Can just be internally stuffed. Try a new one. It's a optical pickup inside the CAS, a trigger wheel with a lot of little holes in it and a pickup.

Check, clean and retension the CAS connector terminals before you replace the whole CAS unit. 90%+ of the time, its the connection, not the CAN internals... Over time the loom pulls down on the wiring plug dislodging the top of the plug from the CAS unit.

crisis averted! the z is alive once again. which is begging the nickname of the phoenix.
The CAS was the culprit... once replaced it started up straight away :D
