Yes its sick AGAIN  just got it back this arvo took it for a drive about half an hour ago yes hit limiter a few times but nothing insane just did a few corners and such...

Then on the way home the note of the exhaust changed kinda like it was missing then smelt funny pulled over poped the hood SMOKE AGAIN and it wasn't steam this time it was smoke seemed to be coming from where all the injectors are and such as i have only just got the car i have no idea where coil packs are spark leads and injectors so i couldn't tell what had happened i am thinking that something has got hot and melted a lead or wire and thus one or two cyl are not firing im taking it back to the mechanic first thing...

This is about my 5th hour driving the car including the 4 hour drive home from getting her and its been nothing but trouble. Dont get me wrong i love the car and im really happy i brought it just dont understand WTF is going on???

Anyway will update you all tomorrow after seeing the mechanic...

    Cheers Longy

Just keep throwing money at it until the problems stop for the meantime. Where is the smoke comming from?

Then you love it enough to start learning how to fix it yourself and thus reduce running costs hugely, :zlove:
invest some money in tools, not mechanics, as in the human version :D

You need a forum member to go out and look at it for you.

Could be melted/shorted wires, could be leaking fuel from the injectors or rail or FPR or dampener that's ignited, could be a leak in the plenum gasket, could be many many things. Use an allen key to take off the throttle cable cover and see if anything becomes clearer. If it does, take some photos or something maybe we can help more.

Whats the chances that oil has weeped out via the VTC solenoids and dripped onto the exhaust. So which its smoking up through the center. That or the rocker covers and other items.

    What colour smoke?
    What smell do you get?

Have you by any chance sucked in a small family of babies to which are burning?

Wait thats only on turbo cars.

As for the dropped cylinders, PTU?

    Fried plugs? =/ unlikely.

No such thing as plug leads, they're coil on plug.

Check all your wiring, very common for the loom connector plugs to be fcuked.

Also check the terminals on the components the plugs attach to.

In fact, to save continuous head fcuks and numerous forum inquiries. Not that we mind, providing your using the search button and asking for insight and not just the answer. Either do a complete service, or at least a plenum pull, so to sort out all the hoses and plugs, and if not confident host a tech day.

Will save you thousands and at least you have an idea as to what you're looking at, and not just taking it to joe blow mechanic for him to tinker. And maybe fix.

More info and we can go from there.

I feel your pain, i bought mine, 3 months in after numerous hose replacements. Ended up with a new engine. haha.

Thanks for all the input boys yes as said in an earlier reply i do live in bundaberg and as most of you would know its a little bit of a hole....

No one really wants to do about the car and it seems as though someone has tried to cover some stuff up as there was chemweld in the rad and wat not plus there are connectors that are not connected then have had duck tape put around then so seems as though its been fcuked with....

I have been talking to "rollin" (life saver lol) and im going to get it down to him and leave it with him for how ever long get him to do all the work thats needed to get it going right then do the plenum pull gear shifter and every other thing that would need to be done then ill bring up back up here..

As im not in the position to be able to fix it my self plus i live in a hole of small minded mechanics that unless its a holden or a ford they cant help i think the above option is the best atm....

Thanks for all your help tho guys :)

Trying to say this as gently as I can. You have had the car for only a few hours, the engine is 20 years old, you know very little about the overall condition, and yet you are bouncing it off the rev limiter? Just what do you think you have bought?

If you are trying to break it, I think you might get your wish.

I'm glad you have said this Barry(that was also my immediate reaction).

I was going to post something similar earlier tonight, but that would have resulted in me being labeled as a bastard.:p:rofl::rofl:

These old blokes are right. It's a fragile old car. It takes years of fixing problems and nutting stuff out before it's a solid machine. Before then I wouldn't consider using the rev limiter.

If rollin is yr man and he gets it sorted. Baby the car and find the next problem. Every single thing needs to be replaced after this time. Bushes, plastics, sensors, transmission, suspension, boots, pumps, belts, hoses, brakes...

If it's starting off without any lovin, your going to have to learn to be a mechanic real quick. Or have deep pockets.

So i brought a "sports car" that im really not aloud to use for "years" until i replace everything umm okay???

I brought the car to drive and have fun with and as with any cars if you drive them hard you need to look after things and you will be replacing things,

I agree that ALOT of things need to be replaced be even if they haven't done alot of Km's they are still an old car and need to be treated that way i do understand all that but at the same time im not going to change every gear at 2500-3000rpm nor am i going to red line every gear i just think that these cars are an awesome thing and when your driving one it just feels like thats where it belongs on the road with you the driver having a good time not puppied around town all day everyday...

I guess im just trying to say i do understand what i have got my self into and im willing to stick with it and pay the money to get it sorted out my "rollin" then when i get the car back ill take a different approach ie. spend time going over the car take it for a long drive see how it feels get used to it then take time studying the car so i can learn about it and thus be able to fix my self....

I love this car and i want to be able to enjoy and also give it the "TLC" it deserves....

    Cheers Longy
