    Vader Just another guy

    I'm interested

    Pending price of course.

I need to see photo's of everything that is proposed, with clear concise labels.

It would be good to get a before and after shot also.

I've now owned my zed for 8 weeks, so I'm still a little green.

The first product being made is the clear plastic alternative to the headlight glass, which make the headlights similar to modern cars. So John is talking about fitting the angel eyes at the same time as replacing the glass. I am not sure what the status of the headlight insert is, and whether it will proceed or not - I presume this is what you are talking about in black or chrome?

Kinds sorta Mike. You're mostly right. First thing being about the clear lenses. Secondly was Andy's making of the inserts for the headlights as well being fashioned somewhat after the 99/00 spec one's. Thirdly, my intentions to integrate the Angel Eyes into my own headlights while I'm in the process of doing the preceeding two. I just happen to have chrome inserts that will probably be used.

so what sort of price do you estimate we are we looking at for the 99 spec inserts and the clear lens? i cant wait till these are available

That question has been asked umpteen times and the same answer still applies. When Andy has received the completed finished product(s) he'll make that information public with undue haste.

    available.....

I cant wait until they are too. I get at least 30-50 emails a day world wide on these things. I never thought it would be such a long draw out process to have them made. I have the molds done , we had a factory willing to make them and then the primeminister of something wanted a "piece of the action" I believe it was worded. I and my partner have sent the molds back to the country they were manufactured in. They will be made there hopefully in the next 10 days or so. Thanks for you patience.

Sounds like they are being made in Aussie, with Prime Minister K Rudd getting his "piece of the action", otherwise known as 10% GST :p:p:p:p.

All tongue in cheek of course; I'm keen for the lenses to get under way.

    "piece of the action"

K Rudd aint nothing like the dude in Korea....$25,000 US to ok...so back on plane to China..the manufacturer now is the one that does the BMW lenses and HIDS...he is quoting HIDS also.. May have come out for the better anyway.

    There seems

to be a gap between the rubber surround and the head light glass on the bottom inside corner of the lights, do they all look like that?

Think I answered this one already. The ones on my car were vaccumed formed in my garage out of a mold I made out of the inside of the original glass lense. The ones being produced are CAD drawn , 3D'ed from the original glass. The will be an EXACT DUPLICATE of the originals with a much thinner and stronger "flat" the part of the lense we see. I hope this clears up any questions of the quality of these.

I hear ya dude, no harm in checking though, I didn't see the part where you, "answered this one already".

To those of you going to dedicated to this project I have an additional point that may be of interest.
In order to install the clear lense one must do the bake process and crack open the light units. While you're in there it might be best to do a little maintenance.
Specifically, some of us may already be experiencing a lack of headlight adjustment due to the worn plastic gears inside. Since we'll be inside the unit it would be a great idea to tend to this since having a much cleareer beam pattern may create a higher than anticipated beam pattern which we may want to adjust and correct for.
I'll have to dig up the thread on the actual process and post later but for now I'll be ordering a couple of sets of these - Tamiya 50602 Kit
These metal gears are supposed to be an exact fit for the plastic oem ones for the headlight beam adjusters.

They're not expensive and you may be able to source these at a quality hobby shop.

Back to the Andy's clear lenses. :)

I buy those at the hobby shop at Castle Hill. I only have to show up and they know what I want. They are amazed that they are for a real car, not a little model.

They usually only stock 2 and that's only enough for one headlight so I've been dropping in every now and then to buy up their stock.

That's a terrific idea. I just found that on ebay and bought 2 sets from Hong Kong. Its a far better idea than spending $140 on a second hand headlight that will probably break anyway.
