Can vouch for this motor... These blocks and heads were used in indy cars back in the

day... 6 bolt mains held down a hell of a lot of boost. Chrispy, this conversion is screaming for a TT. I know someone you can speak to for custom manis and turbo kit...

to put it simply, with a set of snails all you need to do is make 100hp per cylinder, which is not much for a v8 of its nature and hay presto.... Drags will become all too slippery!!!!!

p.s height is going to be a problem... Custom intake manifold maybe in order here.. I remember there being a huge difference when dummy mounting this motor... But there were answer and with all answers come $$$$$$$

Have you read all my thread...

A drity great hole will be required in the bonnet, I'm not fussed though. Rather have that than ruin one for the best plenum's ever.

Awesome advice, most of us doing this conversion are walking blind so it's great you can lend some insight :bash:

to be blunty honest no! Nothing wrong with repeated good advise or info is there?:D:D:D:D :rolleyes2:...

Should you be interested, there is a way to keep it all under bonnet, with a tubular designed plenum, tuned length of course.

I was just about sold on this conversion some time ago, but in NSW bulges out of a bonnet like that would attract too much attention, especially with turbos.....

Oh, one other thing, if i recall correctly GB tunnel is going to be a bit tricky, subject to your choise of box... with the standard box i think it knocked up the upper tunnel a little to much, but with a zed box and a proper adaptor plate you could JUST make it work.....

but you would need to modify, tail shafts, yokes and a hole bunch of other things to get it rotating...

Good luck with this, if they could get a LS2 to fit you can get this.

Yeah, I'm not worried about gearbox placement at all. The US guys just use the standard box and box mount which means the shifter and tailsahft are all ok. There will be plenty of room. With the LSx's you need to knock a heap out of the tranny tunnel just to get the gearbox to fit in there...

Well 32m and one cut thumb later the loom is all taped up and looking presentable!

    Quick tips!

Buy good electrical tape, sticks better and comes on 20m rolls. Heaps better than that cheap crap where you get 10 packs for $2.

Stanley knifes are sharp! Be careful

Got the lot installed in the Z, and the ECU bolts into the stock spot! Cool!

Started getting all the dash and interior back in. Hate doing that with a passion, PITA! So easy to bend/break things and loose stoopid little screws.

On the plus side got all my EDFC wiring nice and neat and hidden and hooked the sterio up. Really good system, love it! Was sitting on the floor of my zed with no seats in watching Top Gun turned up real loud

And how's this! Coolant puddle map of Aus!

Nah, cut thumb was only minor, just annoyingly sore when ever it touches something... I'm not dumb enough to stab myself in the arm with a stanley knife :p

    Oh, sorry :D

    Where from and what brand?

I went looking for 'good' electrical tape at Burson and it ranged from $2 a roll for cheap stuff to $2.50 a roll for expensive stuff.

I got the $2.50 stuff and it seemed OK but nothing special.

Gearbox input shaft is spot on, so pleased about this, was a bit worried it would be way off.

Starter can't be changed with the gearbox on :( Need to take too much meat out of the plate to allow it to be changed, so I'll live with it...

I'll try and get it in the engine bay tomorrow and the gearbox mounted up so I can design the mounts and sump.

It's coming along nicely :D Going to Finland for most of Feb, so won't be done for the Nissan Nationals unfortunately, but that's kind of good, won't cut corners to get it done in a hurry...

If u change the starter motor mounting stud to a bolt, that would help remove it right?

Good stuff Chrispy! The VH looks so clean and tidy, I love it. Looks like there's a few of us with Z stuff going on. :zlove:

Yeah, I think I will remove the stud. I don't like removing studs, always goes badly for me :(
