    AUGUST DYNO TUNING SPECIAL

We're having a ONCE OFF dyno tuning special held throughout August 2008...

A FULL DYNO TUNE & PRE-DYNO INSPECTION for only $600!

What is a PZP Dyno Tune?
A PZP Dyno Tune involves modification of the Nissan OEM ECU and replacing it with a custom tuned eprom (chip) which is suited to your Z32.

How is a PZP Dyno Tune Performed?
The stock ECU is modified by removing the OEM eprom and replacing it with a 'socket' allowing different eproms to be inserted without the need of soldering. The socket allows us to interact with the Nissan ECU via our tuning hardware/software. This process allows us to perform a 'live tune' on the dyno, giving us the ability to tune Air/Fuel Ratio (AFR) and Ignition Timing in real time.

What are the advantages of Dyno Tuning?
Dyno Tuning gives us the ability to control speed and load capabilities whilst outputting important data such as lamba (wideband AFR) readings, rpm, power and torque. With such a vast amount of control over the car, we are able to fine tune your Z, resulting in higher power/torque output and better fuel control. This usually results in better fuel economy as the fuel maps in the stock ECU are unnecessarily rich.

Why do I need a Dyno Tune?

There are three main reasons for dyno tuning... These are:
    1. The factory ECU runs rich and more power/fuel economy can be made just from a simple tune
    2. On twin turbo applications; you have installed a device to control boost (boost controller or boost jets) and would like to increase the amount of boost over the stock 9psi.
    3. You have made modifications to your Z without any tuning. Examples of engine modifications are; aftermarket exhaust system, pod filters or aftermarket intakes, larger injectors or adjustable fuel pressure regulators
What power should I expect from my tune?

Unfortunately this is a real tough one to answer. It's more along the lines of 'how long is a piece of string?'. Our tunes have yielded varying results however you should expect somewhere between the following:
    • Twin Turbo Manual (Exhaust, Intake & Boost Controller)
      • 300 - 360rwhp @ ~14psi boost
    • Twin Turbo Automatic (Exhaust, Intake & Boost Controller)
      • 280 - 330rwhp @ ~14psi boost
    • Non Turbo (Intake, Extractors & Exhaust)
      • 170 - 210rwhp
These varying results are due to many factors, these include the number and quality of the modifications, condition/compression of the motor, size and weight of wheels and also factors beyond our control (weather conditions; temp, humidity, etc).

Why have you decided to do this August Special?
We've been tuning for years however we're only starting to advertise now. This is a kind of 'introductory special' to the general public plus we believe the middle of winter is the best time to get your Z tuned! The cooler climate conditions in winter are preferred due to the denser air and cooler intake temperatures. A cooler, denser intake charge is better to tune with as we find it easier to tune Air/Fuel tables.

Think of it this way: when the air is cooler, it is denser. This means you will get more air into the combustion chamber than you would say during a 30degree summer day. More air allows us to put in more fuel, thus yielding more power and a safer tune.

Now with that in mind, what would happen if you had your car tuned in the middle of summer? The air is less dense and yes, we can still tune for a good air fuel ratio however, what happens when the nights start getting colder and you're cruising around? The air will get denser and with the same amount of fuel being added to the mixture than that of a summer day, your air fuel ratio is going to run LEAN. A lean AFR mixture is one of the biggest causes of detonation (pinging) and this can shorten the life of your motor substantially!

    So I get a PZP Dyno Tune & a Pre-Dyno Inspection... what's that?
A pre-dyno inspection is very important and overlooked by most tuners! What's going to happen when your car is tuned with a boost leak? What's going to happen when your car is getting tuned with the CAS advanced by 10degrees? BAD THINGS! That's what! :)

30% of Z owners bring their cars into us for a dyno tune without knowing what's going on under the hood of their pride and joy. Without a boost leak test or base ignition check, we can't be sure if your Z is ready to go on the dyno. Furthering that, 8 out of 10 Z32's in WA have their base ignition timing out by at least 5 degrees, this is either robbing you of power or causing engine detonation!

We usually charge a fee of $100 for a pre-dyno inspection. That on top of the usual fee for dyno tuning $880 for a full tune.... our August special SAVES YOU $380!!!!!!

What else is done with a PZP tune?
There are many tricks of the trade we are not willing to release however we can tell you that we remove speed limiters, adjust rev limiters and boost cuts. We also have some tricks to get better low down torque figures but that's a secret too!

Everything looks great, what do I do now?
If you would like to take advantage of our August special, you will need to ensure your Z is up to scratch before running it on the dyno. We recommend that you change the oil and clean the intake system before you arrive for the dyno tune. We also recommend that the fuel filter is replaced if it hasn't been done in the last year and that you rectify any known issues before you decide to go ahead with a dyno tune. We are more than happy to book in a minor service prior to your dyno tune, this will be $120 - $140 depending on parts.

    How do I book?
We are accepting bookings via phone or email. Email is usually better as I'm always on the dyno and can't answer the phone every 10mins. A non-refundable deposit of $50 is required to secure your dyno tune booking.

Contact info is as follows: tom@perthzperformance.com.au or phone 0438 843 467. All work is carried out by me (Tom) and PZP is operated out of the Mindarie Exhaust Centre workshop in Clarkson. Please direct all calls to my mobile or send an enquiry via email. The guys at Mindarie Exhaust don't like taking all of my calls! :D

OFFER IS ONLY VAILD THROUGH THE MONTH OF AUGUST 2008. THERE ARE LIMITED NUMBERS AVAILABLE SO BE QUICK TO GET YOUR CAR BOOKED IN FOR A PZP DYNO TUNE!

Tuning special does not include Z32's with larger turbos that require map expansion for tuning to be effective. Please call Tom to discuss if you are unsure if you require special tuning needs.

    Hi Tom,
    book me in mate,
so its 100 for the pre dyno inspection, boost leak and base ignition check, and
    base ignition timing etc etc,
    pluss 600 for the tune.
    700 all up.
i paid u 150 for the ecu so thats minus 700 as u told me so it would be
$550 all up is that right please let me know cheers AK:zlove:

    Hi AK,

Blueblood is correct, it's $600 including the pre-dyno inspection. Because you did your socket & chip (supply only) earlier, we can take $100 off the price.

You're right mate, $600 all up.

    Hi Tom

You can book me in aswell,

I will give you a ring later today to discuss.

But just a quick question will the pre dyno inspection happen a few days before in case there is anything major wrong?

    Cheers

Hi Tom, are you going to be doing this only on weekends or during the week as well?

I am not going to be around from the 12th of August onwards as I am heading home to the UK for a holiday, if its Saturdays I'll take the 2nd or the 9th.

If they are gone let me know if you are doing week days, Sat's preferred though.

    Hi Tom,

How long will the process take roughly?

Do you dyno run the car first to get a baseline then add the chip and work up from there?

If I come during the week I will have to arrange my work schedule as the drive up and back from Perth will take a while.

  13. tom@pzp

    tom@pzp www.pzp.com.au

    Hi Steve,

The process can take between 2-4 hours, depending on the car.

You will be given a before and after dyno graph comparison.

Oh and it only takes 25mins to drive from the city, it's not that far! :)

    Interested...

I'm interested Tom but might have to wait till towards the end of August if thats ok.

Once the ECU is chipped, how much do you charge if you want it to be re-chipped for an Injector upgrade etc? Is it another $600 again?

    Cheers
    Rob. :)

Re-tuning is $150 per hour. If you've had a tune from me before, then it only takes around an hour to re-tune for different mods.
