Yep now there's a SMZ for sale on BaT as well that may rival this sale price. The base value of Z32's even in Australia has certainly been rising in the last few years.

$192,000 aud, wonder If north Americans how worked out its easy to pull an VG to replace the turbo's than to pull an RB26 to replace the crank, block, oil pump, crank bearings, fit head drain's, oil restrictors, intake manifold (yes some GTR workshops pull the engine to remove the manifold, and to remove oem turbo's). Im sure the new Z35 has a lot to do with it also.

High value is only good when selling. Buying at high price is not so good. I personally prefer the Z32 to remain on the more affordable side (sub $30K). If my car was written off, I would still like to afford another: within a years worth of earnings, not 5 years worth!

My insurance company revalued mine last month and mentioned the average on their books is now $35k so I'm personally welcoming the increase. The main downside is it might not be easily replaced with something comparable if something happened.

I'm with www.enthusiast.com.au I just went back over the correspondence and the quote from the representative was:
Would be interesting to hear what they tell you if you decide to get in touch with them.

Same company im with, i just had it around the wrong way. I didnt ask market values as i went with a agreed value on all.

This was my biggest mistake with my car and not getting the insurance re-evaluated every year and instead i just left it dwindle down and then when i had an accident in 2021, my $13,000ish agreed value from 8 years ago wasnt high enough to cover the overblow repair estimate of $12,000 to fix the damage and so my car got written off. I definately learned a lesson from this whole ordeal and i will look into enthusiast insurance, when my car is repaired a back on the road.

100% that would've been heartbreaking with the amount of work and effort your project has involved. On the other hand you're on the path to bringing it back better than the first time around mate!

looks like it went for $81,000 usd ($116,000 aud) feels weird typing all those zero's

KING Z is currently for sale on ebay for $55,000 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/225097246830?hash=item3468d7686e:g:6b8AAOSwMydi5d2Y&frcectupt=true

While I appreciate the amount of work that has been done, (still watch the ignition dvd sometimes when it was blue) I just think its to modified in the new era of OEM plus/euro style and the mods look dated now if he's willing to send to north america 38,000 usd for a highly modded slick top JDM right hand drive would go down quite well. There is a lesson here as well how to turn 200,000 into 55,000. But then again he won trophy's got immortalised on film, magazines ect so could all be worth it.
What I would do to (fix) it, OEM- hatch, tail lights, wing, bonnet, nose panel, bar lights, doors, roof paint, tyres, rim colour, interior - black, side windows, rear bar, fender indicators in the correct position, debage and stickers. Then start at 60,000.

If at $55000 and still for sale (Ive been watching it for a bit) means people don't have the funds or those that do, don't want that car.

Also there was a convertible at $79,000 (listing ended not sold). It looked to be the same convertible that never sold when it was listed a couple of years ago for now a mere $8,000 My assumption to that, was due to convertible parts being hard to get, so it's a turn-off to buy. It's why I never bought it.
