Hello Everyone this is my first post.
My son bought a 300zx from victoria but we can't verify the vin number on revvs or any other site to check what we have, it just doesn't work. It was registered in victoria because it had an old rego sticker stuck to windscreen. The vin number on the front shock tower matches the one on the old windscreen sticker.
    vin 6u90000gz32008083

I managed to get an offer of PPSR certificate on REVS, after it says not valid, it gives you another link to put VIN (6u90000gz32008083) in again, asks a few questions like "grey import" YES.

I hope it gives you some info after you pay the $25 good luck.

BTW 07/90 manufacture date, NA, Auto, 2+2

No no plates, Vic rego no good for NSW so we told him to cancel it and return the plates to vic roads.

    A quick search of the vic roads system shows the following info;

    VIN / Chasis: 6U90000GZ32008083
    Engine #: VG30797464
    Previous VIC rego: YCB545

Vic rego plate number will be on the old rego label. Also I would have thought he should have given you a transfer of ownership paper work with old rego / owner info on it. Also a receipt with that info as roads authority will more than likely need all that.
    Cheers

There should also be a Compliance Plate attached somewhere in the engine bay.

    The original VIN is GZ32-008083
This will appear on the aluminium plate attached to the radiator support panel & also factory stamped into the firewall at the rear of the engine.

When you register the vehicle in NSW you will require.

    A Blue Slip
The VIN which is now 6U90000GZ32008083
    The date of Compliance
A receipt for the purchase of the vehicle

As the vehicle was previously registered in Victoria, it will have a Compliance Plate somewhere.

When you have it inspected for a Blue Slip, they will check that it is not on a Statutory Write Off list.
If it is, it can't be registered anywhere in Australia, once again, as the vehicle was registered in Victoria & the number plates were on the vehicle, this shouldn't be a concern.

Yes, it looks like it is a grey import.
Have you looked for an import compliance plate (sticker). The most common places to find it are in Engine bay, or Passenger door jamb.

To get the information that I posted about your car, I just entered your VIN into VicRoads website

I wonder about that..... recent conversation with an insurance claim assessor. .... I was told that they don't bother putting cars older than 15 years on the write off list. So he was advising anyone who was buying a car 15 years or older to get as much history about the vehicle as possible.

Common sense really,,,,,, but don't relax just because a recently repaired car isn't on the write off list.

Hopefully it has proof of compliance otherwise you’re likely to have a bad time...
