It's taken me almost 2 1/2 years but I finally got there. Just a couple of minor things to do and she's done!!!

Not too shabby for someone that knows nothing about cars! LOL

Very nicely done & great choice of wheels! So what's left on the "to do" list?
Any more photos & details of the process to get to this point?

    cheers, Tim

I tried to add some more image but PhotoBucket had a bit of a fit and I couldn't work out how to get in and edit the original post so, here are some 'progress' shots.

The rims are Enkine which I rubbed back and resprayed.

I still want to add a new steering wheel with the thumb rests. A rear bolt-on diffuser if I can find one and if my dreams come true... digital gauges. Again, if I can find a full cluster.

I just need to get it roadworthy during the week and she'll be back o the road. :)

roadworthy might require front turn signal blinkers that are both visible?

I took on board what QLDZR and DazzaZ32 had to say about the front indicators so I sorted that out this weekend.

With the added indicators on the new front spoiler I had an issue with the indicator flashing rate so to solve that I jumped onto eBay and purchased a LED flasher relay for $12.

The relay needed to have a mini loom made up so I could fit it to the existing socket without needing to modify that.

The flasher was located under the drivers dash to the right and it's in one hell of a tight spot. Lucky I'm a little fella so I was able to get in there and remove the OEM flasher and then replace it with the LED version. I used my iPhone torch app as a light and I then used the original flasher markings as a guide to where to connect the leads. I then zip tied it into place. Neat and out of the way and it sorted out the flashing rate.

Next was to add the front indicators which I also purchased off eBay for $7 for the pair. These indicators are used along the sides of semi-trailers. I added connectors to the ends and made up a couple of joining splitters for each indicator so I wouldn't have to cut into the original loom.

There was only one screw holding in the indicators so that took a few seconds to undo and then I added in the splitters.

I headed to the front grill to install the indicators. Simple and straight forward job and then connected the leads from the front LED indicators to the side indicator splitters. I then screwed the side indicator back in.

They are actually quite bright and easily noticeable.

The whole job took just under an hour and $20 to do. Not sure if this will be a permanent fix or I'll look at alternatives like indicators in the headlights. I may even just spray them with Night Shades to hide them a bit more.

For now, I just want to get it over the pits! :)

I think they are perfect just like that.

I posted an LED flasher upgrade on this site.
    Pin layout was correct.
The main reason I posted it (Hella brand) was because it had a built-in buzzer that can be heard even when the stereo is turned up. I even put some electrical tape over the buzzer vent hole because it was a bit annoying if sitting in traffic.

I won't ever be pulled over for driving with my blinker flashing for no reason with this thing.

I used this one because it has a built-in buzzer that is easily heard above the stereo.
Correct pin config for Z32. Vent hole for buzzer, I put a piece of electrical tape over to muffle sound a little bit.
I won't be pulled over for driving with my blinker flashing for no reason, now.

PS. the blinker location looks perfect as you have done it. I hope the flash is clearly amber colour.

No issues with my flasher. I think I got a great deal for $12! LOL. The LED flash is definitely amber and is quite powerful at night. Every bugger will definitely know where I'm turning!!!

I think if they are being picky in QLD, both the lens of flasher on front have to be viewed from an oblique angle and obvious in daylight and amber.
My Altezza blinkers didn't meet the standard and I was cautioned.

I was questioned about my first LED set because too dim, my second set were much brighter but the amber lens on the actual LED was broken on one so I removed them both and had bluish-white flashers. I was pulled over and fined.

I now have my Auspec blinkers back in.

Sounds like they were just busting your balls!!

A couple of years ago just before I took my car off the road, I was pulled over at a booze bus and I passed the breathalyzer but then they asked me to drive over to the side and they did a complete check on my license. I asked I young female cop "was it the car" and she said yes.

I guess should prepare for that a lot more now the car is finished.

Were you hopeful she was checking you?

If you were a hot young girl and the young male cop asked you to park it over here while he does a full personal details check.... hmmmnnn??

btw my Hella LED flasher was approx $13 delivered.

One of the minor jobs I needed to fix on my Z was the cruise control buttons.

They were working but the 'set coast' button felt a bit 'squishy' and it looked like it had collapsed.

I jumped onto ebay and the cheapest I could find without having to buy the whole center piece or the steering wheel was $31 and from Lithuania.

There was a whole center piece available from England and it was only $43 but the postage was $103!!!!

I figured before I purchased anything I should pull it apart and have a look at it just in case it's something I could fix.

The center piece is held in by one screw on the back and bottom of the steering wheel and once that is removed, the whole piece just pops out. There is an electrical cable that needs to to be unplugged.

I unplugged the button unit from the center piece and there were only 2 small screws holding in the buttons. (As I didn't take an image with my iPhone of the back so I just grabbed an image off eBay)

Removing the back of the button unit was easy and I used a jewelers micro screwdriver to pop open the back. Once I did that, it was pretty obvious what was wrong.

The 'resume accel' and 'set coast' buttons both had rubber 'springs' but as you can see in the image, one of them had split in half. (sorry about the shitty iPhone image)

I knew exactly how I was going to fix it. Rather than replacing it with another rubber 'spring', I figured I could use a real spring out of an old pen I had laying around.

It turns out it had the perfect diameter and all I needed to do was use a pair of mini side-cutters and chop it down to size. I didn't measure the length I needed, I just guessed that.

My cruise control buttons now have their very own coilovers!!

Those of you with big hands may need to use tweezers to put the springs back into place but for me and my small hands, they just popped straight in. I replaced the back and the job was completed in less than an hour and at no cost at all.

This 'hack' really turned out well as now when I use the buttons, there is a distinct click and it feels like clicking on a light switch. Since it worked so well, I may even pull out the buttons and replace the 'cancel' button with the new spring as I much prefer the 'action' of the new springs over the original ones.
