is that door open, or is it not closing properly...............if its not closing properly because of the hit, that IS NOT a good sign.

No, I just didnt close the door. The door and bootlid all are fine. Just got the broken mirror and crease line/tears on the guard. Only cosmetic, ive already told my insurance im not taking any form of write off as an answer, particularly when im not at fault and its not us paying for the repairs.

Depend's if you had full comprehensive or 3rd party property.

For 3rd party property usually works best for you if you get assessor to make it reparable write off, and get the agreed value for the repairs paid to you.
That way you get to keep the car and get enough money to fix it + some upgrades... Else you get another clean car for the money.

If full comprehensive you don't get to keep the car if is written off.. It goes on the auction... (heard that you can offer some amount to keep it but not sure about that).

If your car has been involved in the incident it has been recorded. So your value for the vehicle goes down...
Pay attention to that as well.

Not many people will buy it of you if there is "repaired" showing in the record.

There is a few grand worth of damage to your car so it can easily be reparable write off..

They didn't write it off immediately, it's off to the paint shop now. They will assess costing to fix it. It's going to msr smash at Springwood. Springwood is import central down there, so here's to good luck!

They often want you to get the car somewhere to be assessed.
You should go and get the quote from repair shop of your choice (they use to do free quotes but now they all want $$$... So you should pay them to get you nice quotation) and send the quote to the insurer... As you have the right to use repair if your choice!
Not them cheap panel beating shops that will fix anything just to get the jobs...

Call them ask for your car before repairs start... As you want to get the quote yourself...
When dealing with the repairer of your choice you can even get them to fix some other minor things that you have on the car for free...
Or you can ask for agreed value to be paid to you.... You can than do whatever you wan't with the money.

I've found a couple of people wrecking 2 seaters local on gumtree, I could buy the parts from for the repairs if it ends up a write off.

Wow, massively unlucky with the bingle mate. Only just discovered this thread for the first time, the detail work is amazing! Gives me hope that the black one I'm currently putting back together will look as good with some detail work.

Might have to swing you some beers and/or dollars to have a crack at it once on the road!

Thanks Sketchy. I do detailing on the side as a hobby and extra cash, happy to transform your car for you.

So, they are writing the car off, and sending it to auction. For some reason they wont let me buy it back?

Well, of the 12 months zed ownership, 6 months of driving, it was rough road of fun.
no longer a zed driver now.

Sounds like bullshit to me, who are you insured with?

I'd be checking your policy documentation to see what is in the fine print ASAP.

Just get everything out of the car... And I mean everything of any value! Head unit / Speakers / Wheels if you have shit ones in your garage (change them for those) / Breaks if you upgraded and have old ones / Body Kit / Infill panel... HID/LED lights... You get the picture... You have the right to take your belongings of the car, and all aftermarket goodies if you can replace them with some shit...
Don't leave anything to those $@#%*!!!

If you had full comprehensive insurance that is the way they do it.
In some instances "where they think they will get scrap money for it then, they might let you buy it from them. (which is not that legal)"
However you can ask your insurer where and when auction is going to be held, as wright off cars are sold on auction, and they should let you know where your car is going to be auctioned.

With Bingle I presume that you will get in between 6-7.5 grand for it. So you can get another Z or you move on to something different...

    Good luck.

that sux mate, as others have said, you still have a chance of getting it back at auction. Best case, you get a payout, and you get it cheap at auction :)

It was always my understanding that the Original Owner/Insured Owner has "First Option of Salvage" to purchase the "Wreck" from the Insurer(once it has been declared a "Write-off").
I would be seeking further advice in this regard, if I were you!:br:

Ive filed a complaint with the ombudsman. Hopefully that kicks things into gear for me. Its got all my alpine gear and apexi gear in it, though I cant get to it.
Im with RACQ. Not at fault, and im being shafted, there still expecting me to pay my excess! I told them get ****ed.
Im going to switch my Audi over to Shannon's.

You weren't at fault so I wonder if the other car was uninsured?
Meaning your insurer was looking at covering the repair cost.

It might be that the other vehicle was also insured with RACQ and they were trying to minimize their costs.
How many insurers don't have a conflict of interest from being backed by the same parent company these days?

I'd be raising as many conflict of interest questions as you can imagine because they weren't backing you (their customer)

As long as you have aether other "driver's details or REGO number of the vehicle that is at fault" you don't have to pay the excess!
If there is a police report even better!
Your insurance will try to get excess fee of you anyway, that's a standard procedure... %#&*?'$

Take all your shit out... Don't even give them the door key when they come to take it! Say that you lost it, and lock the steering wheel :)

    Ombudsman is good move.

So I decided to pull the boot trim out before it goes to the panel beaters, and i got a bit carried away. Using the most top quality tools, I've pushed the rear corner section back out, and also reshaped the hatch section aswell. I used a mallet and block of wood. Maybe 10 minutes worth of work.

Tomorrow I'll go buy a slide hammer and continue. Yes the panel beater would do all this work, though I figure, dads a spray applicator/panel beater get him to teach me the basics before I start building my time attack rat rod beetle. I'll leave the final finesse work to the painter when i get my payout.
