Are the pics in order of the products used? Which do you prefer (ease, price, and finish) ?

 

This is the wheel with the pro materials.
Iron x to decon wheels first.
Then chemical guys diablo wheel cleaner.
Then megiuars all metal polish.
then armour all wheel protectant.






It was definately easier to do as opposed to the cheaper stuff.

 

Anyone got any good tips on bringing all of the rubber weather seals (windows doors hatch etc) back to life? Something that both softens and brings back the black lustre to the rubber.

 

Rubber Magic from Rare Spares, it's about $40 a can.

 

Got me Z polished, detailed inside and out. Looking proper good.

Took it to Football training, had a few beers after...walked outside and the damn bore sprinkler was spraying all over me motor ...

How do you find the wheel protectant? Make it easier to clean down the track?

I've been looking at wheel waxes and protectants but unsure which way to go. The wheels on my lotus are matt/satin and I don't want to make them shiny. They do look great when they are nice and clean though but it takes a fair bit of effort.

 

I just cleaned up another seat of wheels for the zed over the weekend. Used a different sealant. Carpro hydr02. Makes the surfave hydrophobic, which resists water/dust etc giving a longer protective coating. I'll put this up over the next week.

 

This didn't work the first time. I'll try again.

These are they second set of wheels for my car.
They have been cleaned with CARPRO products.
TAR X / IRON X / HYDR02 this is also the order used.
I forgot to take a photo of the HYDR02, though
You really need to use a pressure washer with this. I have a Karcher K5 series washer. You don't want anything too hardcore cause you will start stripping paint off of course.

It has contact glue on them and general dirt and crap.

1st stage is TAR X to remove the stones glue and dirt etc.
pressure wash off and dry the wheels
2nd stage is the IRON X, pressure wash off and dry.

After this stage, the HYDR02 is applied. This has to be applied on a WET surface. The product reacts with water. It is hydrophobic, so the h20 is the kicker to set off the chemical process.

After HYDR02. The surface must be completely dried after application.



This is a shot of inside the wheels, minus tar build up and stones etc. These also got the same treatment. It was hard to take a photo of this.



I'm missing a centre cap from one of the wheels though. This process couldn't replace the cap though.. haha.

 

Nice work mate, they look good. As for the centre cap i'd just go and buy a set of oem ones as most caps are multi fit anyway.

 

I bought some nismo one's to replace the missing one.



Though after buying these i found the missing one! haha

I'll be doing a paint correction on my car shortly, and will put up a summary "how to" of it on here.

Detailing

I just wanted to log on and tell everyone about the exceptional work of Mauri from Reflection perfection detailing in Brunswick, VIC. My Z (it's the red one on their facebook page) is currently in their hands and I've never met anyone who is so passionate about what they do.

I've been taking my car to a cafe car wash in brighton occasionally over the years and on the most recent trip I opted for their full service polish. It seemed fine at the time but wasn't until months later (I hardly drive this car) I was filling up petrol and I noticed so many scratches all over the car!

Anyway, have a look at the facebook page, I cannot believe what I'm seeing, the car looks like new again. I came across him doing some searching around the net (whirlpool, aus300zx forums, etc.) and everyone can't praise this guy highly enough and now, add me to that growing list!

sadly those café type car wash and detail places seem to use idiots to work there.
