Ive been looking into this and i found this info on sxoc.com.

In regards to getting an All in one sensor display

"DLP-IO8-G + Nistune might do the trick.

But you need a car computer !!

And it is not a "plug&play" solution. More like a DIY datalog.
    Should be cheaper, though.

It should be compatible with Nistune, you should be able to buy any gauge (and not specific expensive ones) and configure Nistune to show the result.
But I never tested it, I can't guarantee it works ... and more importantly, I have no idea how nistune will present the readings, I think there is a virtual gauge menu somewhere but I never tried it."

So my question is, what gauge to use, or will ecutalk support this?

And also how does the DLP-IO8-G connect to nistune?

ecu talk won't support this. You will need nistune software and some form of laptop or car pc to run the software and view the readings from the stock ecu/sensors and additional sensors. Whether or not you want to run this setup perminantly in car or just for tuning is up to you.

Ecutalk (and nistune) can only read the signals that are sent to it from the ecu. The DLP board allows for additional sensors to be installed (0-5v outputs) and in turn, make these talk to nistune in order to display the readings and log them.

As per earlier in the thread, things like oil pressure and temp, fuel pressure, boost pressure and exhaust temp are NOT seen by the stock ecu.

I am sure that someone like brisz can explain the connectivity better than I can, but the board connects to the laptop by usb and nistune can then be configured to pick the data up from there in the same way that a WBo2 sensor is.

Check nistune user guide for details.

Thanks for the speedy reply, i looked into it further it is all as you say.

But i was hoping there is a gauge that will connect to the DLP-IO8-G so that when your not using it for tuning you can still view the readings?

Still an awesome idea mike, cant wait to see the price on the sensor gb :O

Not really, for something similar, youd be looking into something along the lines of the PLX series of custom gauges and sensor modules, which are very expensive!

Failing that, you could buy gauges inc sensors (assuming they have 5v outputs) and use nistune/board and/or the gauges themselves. But then you need somewhere to put them all, and it gets expensive, fast.

Yeah the cost of a standalone gauge doesn't justify the means.
I think I'll save my money for a pocket PC which can do exactly what I want.

    Pocket PC gb? :D

Eric is waiting to hear back about some sensors :)

Does this mean that ECUtalk could be setup to display things like oil temp/pressure?

    That'd be great if so!

    No no no no!

All this doover does is let your laptop accept some 0-5V analogue or digital inputs. That's it. Nothing else. Nothing to do with ECUTalk at all, not even a tiny bit.

ATM im looking into running ecu talk, nistune and the dlp board off a bluetooth adapter and having them display on an 8 inch notebook.

Would be able to walk around the car with the notebook and still have accurate readings, also its then possible to run a 7 inch touchscreen off the bluetooth and display a custom set of gauges from nistune and ecutalk.

The touchscreen could double as , well whatever you put on the notebook i guess.
They only come in 800x600 res for around $120 tho :(
Notebook would set you back around the same.
    Not sure on bluetooth module.

Yeah off the bat I understand it wouldn't work, but maybe with some software updates it could be made to read them?

I mean, the ECUtalk reads straight off the ECU, and Nistune is the ECU (in my head), so I'm guessing something could be done to allow it to read the sensors?

Oil temp and pressure for sandwich plate.
    Intake pressure and temp
    Fuel pressure in aftermarket reg

    Best spot for egt?

    +1

If were gonna do it, lets do it right and get the dual sensors.

It doesn't interface with the ECU at all, only your laptop and the Nistune software.

    Eric,

    I'd be after:
    EGT (2 of)
    Intake pressure
    Intake temp
    Fuel pressure (maybe)

    Cheaper the better :br:

You're installing them, you decide how and where :p

Oh, alright... What does the ECUtalk read then?

  18. Chrispy

Sorry, may not have been clear. ECUTalk reads straight off the ECU through the consult port.

This little doover accepts some inputs from additional sensors and allows them to be read by your laptop through a USB connection. This can be imported into Nistune to aid in tuning/datalogging/fiddling about.

Thought you were pretty clear myself ;)

Alright then, thanks for the clarification :)

You deserve a Thank good sir!
