Have a few cams to choose from and want to make sure I have the manual cams in the rebuilt heads. Anyone know if they have a serial number or markings on them to tell them apart? Thanks.
they are different, same as auto and manual turbos are also different to cater for the different gear ratio etc
If i had my time again, i would have kept the auto cams in my engine instead of going manuals in my last rebuild. Reason is, i now have slightly extra lag, and no (noticable) gain in the top end.
More this one as there's no discernable colours on the cams that I can see. Will have to get out the micrometer to see what the lift is to know for sure. Cheers for the info a2zed for the measurements.
Judging by what Benny had to say I'd guess your power would come on a little quicker in the rev range. Give it a boot-full and find out!
More on Benny's comment - I have the opposite to kakaboy, manual exhaust cams with auto turbos and transmission. Definitely laggier as a result, not a huge amount but enough to notice. Supposedly more gain at higher revs but the "smaller" turbos don't fully support it and the transmission shifts up before then anyway.
