Ok I am getting more information on the cams but the. HL14 is comparable to the. Jwt 400 series and the HL15 to the jwt 500

I am under the impression the 400 series will give me more mid range torque and street ability

Well I'm not going oem cams anymore going with jwt 400 (hl14) .
Trying to find a big write up that was done on these a while ago .
Also trying to Suss out if the jecs 750cc injectors will match up ok . I know they fit I the stock fuel rails but the I could have delivery issues so I'm looking at 300degree rails . Now I need to find out if jecs fit into them

    not quite the same
    JWT 400 (264/9.5 )
    z1 HL14 (270/9.24)

    JWT 500 (272/9.78)
    Z1 HL15 (270/9.78)

more lift and less duration is better for a street car .(fatter torque curve)
thats why I like 264/9.5 ..good balance ,spool vs topend

I asked JWT if they could make me a 264/9.8 hydraulic
    this was their response

    Hi Rob,
We would of offered a cam profile like this if it could of easily been done. The small base circle design of this cam keeps the oil gallery port when at full lift from being uncovered and the contact stress for the JWT cam profiles are already at their limits. To do a cam profile with a shorter duration and higher lift requires very high velocity. This cam and lifter design is currently at its limits with the 31mm lifter. We already have a similar and larger cam profile that is like what you are asking about but this is for the VQ35HR which is designed with 34mm lifter buckets and are also DLC coated as well. In theory it might be possible to adapt 34mm lifter buckets to the Z32 head but would require great amounts of machining work besides dealing with a proper fix with the lifter oiling hole that would be effected from the machining. Probably not practical for this application.

so basically it can be done without the reduced base circle
264/9.8 would be best cam for the VG

just some more info to confuse you more :p

Confuse it does! I've been hanging to see what final specs these heads will be.

Are you buying them complete from Z1 or are you buying the internals only and having the head work done locally?

I'm really keen to know as I've set myself down the same path and am currently watching your thread like a hawk.

im getting parts and assembling most myself for heads,

and yes that did confuse me HEAPS!.

now im carrying different lift numbers in my head and i keep writing down the wrong cam duration on my listings! haha.

Well the HL14's may be the way to go unless i can maybe strike up a deal for JWT400's as im starting to approach my budget limit and i wanted to leave some aside incase i need another part upon reinstalling the engine.

but do i need the NA PS pump brackets for this also ? or will the existing ones on my car do it as im removing the hicas completely

already have the lock out bar.

I do have a slight budget . Can't go overboard despite being tempted too lol .

On a side note I just realized something ... I'm going to have a lot of spare hose and gasket for sale cause I don't have a egr or aiv etc and I ordered a kit that included those parts :/ lol

    done and DONE ..

hicas removal all sorted now .

on another note after some discusion with UAS and antoher tuner i have realised that my build may approach a limitation of 350rwkw area with the NISTUNE ecu?

unless i get the selin twin intake kit then i may be able to open it up a little more.

does anyone have anymore information on this

  13. BLACK BEAST

Its the limitation of the single AFM

    .

    Chrispy Pretentious Upstart

Exactly. I've got the same issue myself.

With the cost of the Selin thing, another good AFM, another filter, some elbows and stuff it's not that much more to go to a Vipec or Haltech. Nistune'd ecu's sell for ~$400 too. I'm putting serious consideration into going down this route. Also, the local tuner (GT) won't do Nistune :(

or you could buy my full Power FC ECU package deal which is up for sale :p

    I could.... If it was a D-Jetro I would :p

so to let me get this straight.

my limitation using the nistune here will the single AFM ?

What if i have 2 elbows and 2 apexi pods with one AFM and i want to double the intake value on nistune ?

Would that overcome the issue/limitation ?

    (even with the driveability issues)

Yep, you can run dual AFM's with Nistune no worries at all. I know quite a few zedders doing exactly that. I would always prefer to fully monitor the incoming air, I don't like the idea of "dummy AFM's".

But you still need the selin kit for this wouldn't you

Nope, I am running a doolz twin intake, 1 afm/1 dummy afm with NO selin without issues.

I don't understand why everyone with nistune is using the selin.
