Would like to move this power curve more to the left to have better pull out of corners
As you can see by the dyno graph since fitting the adjustable exhaust cam gears have picked up 600 rpm earlier in the range
What else can be done to improve this?
Black beast is suggesting going bigger on the inlet side with twin intakes, bigger intercooling piping and throttle bodies,
Andy Mac is saying go smaller on the exhaust side with smaller manifolds to increase the pressure,
Another has suggested going back to stock manual cams.
Like to get a few more opinions first from those with knowlege before i start heading off in the wrong direction.
Car is a big improvement from the Nats, running times that would have made it the fastest Z32 there, but chasing that last little bit that will make it better.
As JP oten says "good is the enemy of better"
Input guys, no wrong answers, help for all.

Got an AFR plot there as well Wiz? Richer mixtures at WOT in the lower rev range can increase spool of the turbo's. More exhaust, more pressure, more spool.

Less restriction in the intake side of the turbo would help f'sure, but how much is there at the lower end of flow I don't know.

Going back to stock manual cams will increase the dynamic compression of the cylinders, so in effect it could help you lower down. Or you can can increase your static compression and run off and shave your heads a little :)

    This?

Heads were shaved during the build Andy.

What boost controller are you using Ron? And what are your wastegates set at?

wont move the power band at all, but NA diff or leader gears will make a difference.........it just might not be positive with that much power lol

    One of the

I really think smaller mani's or cams are going to be your best bet ron. Cams are easiest to test, and then manifolds.

Sorry to have to ask, but what cams are you using at the mo, Ron? Stock manual cams will definitely cater for 350rwkw & increase torque/power earlier in the rev range.

can't help you there... But I was chatting to ben on Saturday (while you and John were driving around in circles) and cams came up... Said that manual cams were the way to go.

I would go back to stock ported mani's. Will make both your cams and turbos more efficient.

Boy am I glad I stuck with manual cams instead of opting for the 400+ (which I was really keen on doing until Greg Dupree convinced me to stick with the manual cams)
My car feels MAYBE 2-300rpm's laggier than when I had the stock auto turbo's & it hasn't even been fully tuned yet & feels quiet responsive & torquey.
Then again I do have the HKS 2530's, but alot of people have told me that they're pretty much the same thing as the 28RS's that Ron's running.
I guess that extra blade/ fin does make a bit of difference maybe.
Or maybe it's the fact that I've got the SELIN twin intake with dual maf which really aids in spool & response which alot of the yanks swear by.

I think you should try the SELIN kit first before changing/ modifying anything else Ron - you've got nothing to lose but everything to gain (except losing the $500 for the kit :p)

It all comes down to you desires. The stock cams are limited at 350rwkw so if you are after more power, aftermarket cams are required. In doing so, you sacrifice mid range torque but gain more top end power. Like I said, it is all down to ones preference & as Ron is after more middle range torque and response, stock cams would suit. Whereas those (like me) who are after the raw power & a true beast that would eat anything when you plant your foot, R4+ are suited ;)

    So i'm on

The limit of stock cams at 352rwkw,
Currently the mid range and top end are good, just looking for a little more down low.
With only two tracks to run in NSW now, i don't think it will be a problem at Eastern Creek, being a more high speed track, the problem iv'e got is most of the track days are at Wakefield with two slow exit corners, the right hander comming onto the straight and the left hander comming out of the fish hook is where i'm losing time to competitors, would just like to smarten it up a bit.

I'd say keep the manis, go dual intake see how it is then go manual cams.

Can't give you an exact figure, but from what I have seen I would expect 3-400rpm less lag than ams mani's. But in saying that, I don't know how your heads have been ported and to what extent either.

I personally think your all dreaming with what you think your going to achieve with dual MAF at the HP levels we're talking about. I'm happy to be proven wrong with a dyno chart.

knock it over in a day wiz, I'll help ya out. Not that I want to widen the gap between us, but it's only the right thing to do :)
