you can make one for half that price. All you have to do is make a full scale mould from a standard bar and then just duplicate that. If it was a one off item and we were paying for the time it took to design and create the bumper, 2k would be reasonable. But when the materials only cost a few hundred dollars that mark up is insane.

i would, im not joking. The only reason i would not is if someone could make one that looked exactly like it but for cheaper as altari said.

exactly, tunnel vision. i dont know how you can reach a point of unreasonable justification for something so...unreasonable...IMHO :)

You're not paying a markup on materials you're paying for materials, the mould, the time involved in production and the cost of shipping...

    Apologies Rob......

Sorry Rob no offence was intended by my post!.......

But there have been no updates on these bars for quite sometime now?.......& as you have pointed out - TwinZ had already posted on this forum that they were aiming for a sale price here in Australia of somewhere around $850US? + local shipping!........so please give some consideration to how frustrating it is when we see a post from TwinZ saying there are now 'new costs' that have appeared in the way????:confused::(

You are right........ I did 'assume' that TwinZ would have factored ALL the correct shipping quotes to Oz into their prospective pricing BEFORE making such a public announcement?........so its then only logical to me that any 'new costs' that are now appearing 'in the way' must be coming from our end here in Australia?? :(

Which is actually true to a certain degree!........... but now it has been explained that TwinZ unfortunately did not accurately consider the TOTAL shipping costs involved.......then I apologise for making the assumption that it might be the Aussie distributor responsible for these new unforeseen price hikes!.......but I'm sure I wasn't the only one!:eek::eek:

As it currently stands, you can actually buy one of the 2+0 bars (& it's been posted that TwinZ expect the 2+2 version to be the same price?) direct from Z1 in the US & ship it via USAtoAUS in a container for around $1200AUD delivered to major Australian east coast capital cities!........so if the local price is going to increase to much more than say $900-950US, then by the time you factor in local shipping here from UAS to your door?...........is it really worth all the trouble of a GB & having to wait to get the numbers & collect payments etc etc?.......all just to save maybe $100-$150??

Hopefully yourself & UAS can work out a deal that will be beneficial for the interested Australian buyers like myself!........& for that we all REALLY appreciate your efforts! ;)

Is there an approx time frame for an accurate revised estimate on the Australian selling price?......at least then an informed decision could be made whether or not to wait for the Aussie GB on these or just to buy direct from the US while the Aussie $ is so strong!

Are people waiting for the 2+2 or are there 2 seater people wanting this bar ?

Is this meant to be their website ?

It's all good buddy, but frustrating as I had previously explained this to you via PM!

I did check this out. The problem with container shipping is you have to get it to the depot. When I looked at it the bar via Z1 preorder was $750USD, plus $150-$200USD for a container with USA to AUS. Cost to get it to USA to AUS depot was in the hundreds of dollars US. I can't remember exact fees. Z1 are in the middle of nowhere so the cost to move it to an international shipping facility is not small.

Also you have to factor in fees CC fees etc. Not much I know but it all adds to your bottom line.

At the moment I don't know what the price will be on an AUS buy so it is difficult to make a decision. It will be cheaper, but I don't know how much cheaper. I anticipate sufficient saving that I have walked away from the $100 deposit I paid to get in on the Z1 pre order. Yes there will be a minimum commitment of ten orders to go ahead so will need to collect deposits etc. Would save a few more $$ if we could get to the 40+ unit pricing point but I don't think that is likely.

Unfortunately I can't give a timeframe as UAS are still waiting for some more info from TwinZ Design. Once they have the OK I can organise forum group buy and then it's just a question of how quickly we can get those ten deposits in.

I'm sorry for the lack of updates guys, but there aren't many cargo companies that work with Australia, so it took longer than expected to get all the info and costs needed for the shipping to set a new price.

We had some problems with the first cargo company we contacted, since they gave us a total price for the shipment of the bumpers and when we requested a detailed list of all the costs involved on the shipment they told us they had problems with their cargo agent in Australia so they were not going to be able to make the whole "door to door" shipment, so without a detailed list we were not able to determine if they covered the 5% of duties, 10% of GST (tax) they charge at Australian customs.

We've been looking for more cargo companies that work door to door shipments with Australia and after the long search we found a couple of cargo companies that provided us their quotes with all the detailed info on the costs involved in the shipment.

Now we have set a new price and already contacted John and once I get his OK, we'll be posting the new MSRP to start moving this forward.

Thanks for your patience...We're just about to make this happen.

Guys you won't find an agent that includes import protection duty, GST, and customs agent fees in their quote as these fees are calculated on arrival and billed to the recipient.

None of them give you the exact cost...They all give you the percentage of the cost, the cost per M^3 and the cost per Bill of lading depending on the item to pay.

They won't give you an exact cost, since they don't have the exact dimensions and CIF cost of the load that is being shipped, so I had to calculate it with the approximate dimensions and CIF cost of different size loads we could ship so I can have different range of costs to determine my final price...That's why I gave John different range of prices depending on the quantity of bumpers he might order...The bigger the order quantity, the lower the price.

That's the exact same way I work with Z1 Motorsports and we have had no problems at all and I believe that's the best way to do this.

As I told John, we are working a "door to door" shipment, so he'll be getting the bumpers at UAS facilities and everything is included in the price I gave him for the bumpers...I will manage everything from the production to delivery at UAS facilities, once the bumper load arrives, all goes on UAS part to get it shipped to the final customers.

I believe Z1 are quoting $200US to ship a bar to the USAtoAUS shipping depot in the US! - this can be reduced to $300US if 2 are shipped together!......& so on if there are more being shipped at the same time!

USAtoAUS are quoting $150AUD for each bar to ship to a dock in Oz!........where you will then have to pay GST, duties & a % of the shared dock fees etc on the whole container!......obviously I haven't got exact figures but as you say it shouldn't be too much extra!

So with the strong Aussie $ it's not too bad?.......much the same as what Coz would charge to ship a 2K front bar to Oz! (around $400AUD or so if you can share the Z1 shipping to the UStoAUS depot with someone else?)

Z1 is charging $774 for the bar and around $700 to ship to Australia!
    thats why I pulled out

no gst/duty tax on 1 bar as its under $1000 in purchase price.

Why not try people like this, there are so may people other than major freight forwarding companys sending containers from the USA, i've offered space to others from IOWA to NSW ( arrived yesterday btw) it's how we get our parts here , normally a 40 ht (loaded around aug ) followed by a 20 around dec,

Maybe search other motorsport fourms, importers and see if you can get a couple off cubes.
