Ok so I may have just skimmed through the original post  Hopefully someone will put their hands up to import them? Shipping cost from the US is a deal breaker for me.

What about a group buy? that could reduce shipping costs and make it worth while for TwinZ Design

I hope the 'new costs' aren't due to the Aussie distributor wanting a bigger piece of the pie! :(

illegal in N.S.W but only time this should pose a prob is if you are getting a blue slip

you are correct i am going through the blue slip process and was told by the rta person who inspected my z to just bend the edges of the plate to the desired point as long as all digits on the plate can be seen from the 45.
The 45 degree is needed for speed cameras etc...

some people need to bend the plate to the max so it will fit my rear plate is so bent its not funny and it still only just fits

Got nothing to do with pies russell as we have discussed via PM??

The originaly price posted by the Twinz did not account for duty, GST, or freight from the dock to the distributor. There are other incidentals such as customs processing fees, terminal fees, fuel fees blah blah blah that must be paid by the importer on arrival.

The $849USD price is based on what it costs the Twinz guys to load them up from Peru and send to us. Unfortunately it is actually less than I have calculated the landed price to be based on the info available from customs.

Many of us are hard at work behind the scenes trying to get this happening. As usual I get no monetary reward for my involvement here beyond not having to pay Z1 motorsports $750USD in freight... It frustrates me no end to see posts of this nature which are based on ignorance and assumption.

Retail pricing and the dealer margin are being determined by TwinZ design. Unfortunately they completely ignored my email to them some months ago regarding import costs etc, and posted a price without considering all of the facts and import laws and processes of our Country.

You may have noticed all pricing quoted thus far has been in $USD...

    no.
just 2-3mm each side, your plates wouldn't be any longer than mine, and the number plate area no shorter than mine.
    this isn't a variable it's a fact

So Rob I take it you are the mystery distributor? Excellent result if so, would be very happy to be doing business with yourself.
Do we have some sort of ballpark timeline at this point or is it anybodies guess? I'm at the point were I'm thinking respray time but if this is potentially arriving before chrissy I'll hold fire till the new year.

    cheers, Tim

Not me, UAS but I am trying to help get it all going and have been doing alot of research re customs etc etc to try and work out the price. At the moment I have no idea on a timeline as it's still up in the air price wise. So far we have sent all the info through to TwinZ re costings and suggested a revised price (same markup, but revised rrp to factor in feed) or asked will they revise their dealer pricing. Nothing back and that was a couple of weeks ago. I think TwinZ are working with their shipping agent to try and reduce costs a little too so fingers crossed.

The biggest problem is that ther dealings with the USA have been a little different (I can only assume their import/customs system is different to ours) in that they have paid a "door to door" delivery fee and the package turns up at Z1 costing what the agent quoted. Not an option here unfortunately.

I don't think we will see these before the end of the year -if it runs like the Z1 order we will need to place the order and then wait on manufacturing.

It's pretty slow going but we'll get there. Once we have the price I can start organising group buy which will be pretty straightforward. We can keep pricing in $USD, 50% upfront (based on market exchange rate) and we can determine what the "balance" is in $AUD when UAS make payment to Peru.

Or send a container of rear bars marked "gift"?

And just in case anyone was wondering the cost to send one bar at a time significantly outweighs the tax savings.

Also Customs are not stupid if they notice several individual packages coming in at once going to and from the same places they can put two and two together.... This happened with that BDE gears group buy. Rob yours and my gears being slightly more expensive triggered a GST but that in turn prompted them to review the other packages that had already been released. Fortunately I had made the payments in two instalments over a sufficient length of time (and was able to prove this via my bank statements) that they did not charge GST retrospectively on the cheaper S1 gears. But it was close.

I still think $1k is about 2x more expensive than it should be. Why does it cost so much? How is it justified? Someone will make a killing on these as long as people are prepared to pay these prices... All for something that looks like it's come off a new falcon gt...

It's true, it's not a complex design or completely solid either, it is fibreglass after all.

The fact is even though we have fibreglass artists more than capable of making similar bars here, they haven't.. So the guys in Peru can charge whatever they want, since there's no competition.

Not bagging the bar at all, I would kill to have one on my zed - just pointing out to anyone complaining about the pricing - it's a "premium product" because nobody else is doing it - therefore you pay the premium price or you don't get one at all.

EDIT: The bar is made of fibreglass compound, so it's better than straight fibreglass.

For that price I would have a custom bar made up when I'm ready to fit the widebody. Custom prices for a production bar? Knock yourselves out lol
