Is it possible to put a ZID in with a remote start?

Not unless you use one of the immobiliser outputs to switch the ZID, and that would kind of defeat the purpose of it...

    Remote start = rice.

i agree and also my mate had a remote start on his supra all this wizzo stuff, and he was bragging about it saying it can work from a thousand foot or something
and one morning he went to unlock it, pushed the wrong buttons and put it into the back of his garage (hence left it in gear)
and ripped off his brand new vielside front bar which cost him a mint hehehaha ( i shoudnt laugh but it served him right for having to much PYD on his car )

LMAO. I believe we had a thread about this a while back, wouldnt be too hard to rig up some sort of boolean type switch and have a contact go active when the car is in gear and disable remote start.

I for one would use it in the morning. Since I do 12 hr shifts, im up at 4:30am, walk outside, start car at 4:45am, freeze my ass off in the process, go back inside and finish getting ready. Come back out at 5am then take off. So I don't see how its 'rice' in that situation. Only if say, you're walking up to your car in a shopping carpark and turn it on remotely infront of some people... 'that' is rice, lol.

    Hi Mark

    As per the PM dialogue,

Its possible but not recommended. I know the ZID is yours and you paid for it so you can do with it as you please but I do have some reservations about it being used with the remote start. Remember, one of the ZID's best security features is there is a (confidential) sequence of events to disarm it (you know what I mean) and using the remote start function to disarm it is going to require the ZID's power source to be re-routed.

The ZID has a 100% perfect reputation (from reported cases) for preventing theft and I don't know how effective yours may be if you hook it up with remote start.

Not to mention thye insurance risk as Baz said. Anyway, up to you. If you do want to proceed, we can discuss the wiring by PMs

yehh i can see it being handy there i guess, but why dont you just build a garage and walk up to your car and use the key like the good old days hahahaha

agree but what other stuff should many forum members rip off their cars to attain the golden "legal" stamp of approval?

lets not just bag the things we don't like or agree with ;)

on topic my 180sx had remote start (installed by previous owner). Was cool wank factor seldom used.

also NEVER use if you were not the last person in the car.

because of Turbo timer I ALWAYS took the car out of gear....

however the guy from the audio install place did not

I walked across the car park on collection and with hand in pocket, hit the start button for a pose....

car lurched forward and THANKFULLY stalled!

If it hadn't, it would have gone through a fence, down a bank and onto a railway line.

    You have been warned.

cant wait to get my windows up feature added ;)

Because theres only one garage, for 4 cars, and since I have to leave at 5 in the morning, mine has to be the first one to get out... :(
