Zero Boost

Hey guys

Having boost problems with my Zed

No matter how i drive i cant seem to get any sort of boost
the aftermarket gauge reaches to 0 max

at idle its reading negative boost which is normal as there is still vacuum
while accelerating it climbs to 0 mark and that's how far it will go

i ran a ecu diagnotisc test
and got code 55 which is no error found

so i dunno what it could cause this

even in safety/limp mode should i at least get some sort of boost?

i dunno how the aftermarket gauge is installed, even if the factory boost solenoid is disconnected will this cause this problem or should i still get some boost? i dun have any sort of boost controller installed atm

or can this be from a faulty boost gauge?

theres no smoke of any sort coming out of the exhaust
and i can hear the turbo spooling

any help will be appreciated

Plenty of other car forums with this issue. Everything from Stuck wastegates to blocked cats. Maybe some of the regulars might be able to offer some suggestions as well.

Does your factory boost gauge get into

the +'ive section on RHS?

Ifso, then your after-market gauge is faulty or more likely a leak/break in the vac line leading to the after-market gauge.

First things first I reckon with these sorts of things. Anything new that has been installed would be the 1st thing to check for problems. If you get no boost reading from either gauge, then look for more exotic fixes like wastegates stuck

PS: safety boost or even boost solenoids disconnected should still give you ~ 7PSI

im not sure really dun take notice of it
if the needle goes right of the middles means im getting boost and my aftermarket gauge isnt reading the boost properly?

if it doesnt wastegate must be stuck on open therfor not holding any sort of boost?

or you have a massive boost leak somewhere which would be more probable than your waste gate being stuck open.

Maybe. But you should check easier things such as turbo inlet/outlet piping loose etc first for loose clamps. Although it would have to be a pretty huge leak to get zero boost...

You need a baseline before you do anything. Ensure the factory gauge works first. Does your factory boost/vac guage work at all?

IE: Does the needle swing below zero when car is idling or light throttle?

Ifnot- check the vac lines leading to it from the boost guage sensor near fusible links near drivers side corner of engine bay.

If so, does needle swing into the positive under load?

Ifso, then the problem is your new guage...

sorry for the double post
took the car for a test drive

confirmed that my factory boost gauge does not move at all
its just sits pretty much at the 0 mark all the time no matter if idle or accelerating

but my aftermarket gauge shows vaccum but no boost after 0

any ideas?

 

verify the car accaully has turbos

its moves slightly right but nothing big
not even 1 psi i think

now my automatic transmission is playing up

OK So you have a baseline

the factory boost gauge pipe is prob connected to the aftermarket gauge hence it works and the factory unit doesn't. This is at least progress.

So now you have to look for massive boost leaks (ie: intercooler and turbo piping blown off -perhaps?

Failing this, then your wastegates may indeed be stuck completely open. You need professional help here. I suggest you contact Niall (rollin) or Eric (Drz400Y). Their contact details found by searching for their posts. Usually in their signatures. Both in Brisbane and well respected. Nial is on northside, eric in southside

 

Has the power dropped off at all? Maybe just a dodgey gauge not showing any positive pressure.

 

well this is my first zed
so i dunno how much power these things have
doesnt seem it lacks power
it accelerate quite nicely

will have to check for boost leaks

my auto transmission feels like its slipping
not getting into gear properly
will search anything similiar here and google
