Im trying to decide on an ECU to buy for the zed.

My first choice would be the Zem, but I dont know wether anyone would be able to tune it and I know im not good enough to do so yet.

Wolf3d looks good but not too many people tune it in perth.

Apexi PowerFC, aparantly places in perth install these into any nissan and should be able to do the zed as well. I cant be 100% sure just going on what other people have said.

Hitec, havent seen many results from these but would be interested to see how they go.

And Greddy Emanage, ive not seen these in use before but look good.

Basically What i want are peoples opinions on them and wether or not the zem can be tuned in perth.

How much time do you have on your hands? How much cash?

If you have a lot of time and a fair bit of cash i'd get the zem. 100% tuned for your car. However, i don't know any people that tune the zed with the zem, so it would be up to you to do it. Have you read the user guide that comes with it, it doesn't seem like all the complex a process, just time consuming.

    Good luck.

    Zem is what im thinking

Its designed for the zed and its tuneable by me if I want to. BUT I dont know enough about it to tune it properly. I guess with time it would be good but I dont want to mess something up.

I have a Zemulator sitting in the bottom of the cupboard......

I bought it from the US and it took months to arrive.

I then spent the next couple of months trying to install the thing. The actual install only took a few hours but it wouldn't accept the code and PIN number that was supplied to me. Many, many emails later the code problem was fixed but now it wouldn't download the supplied programs. More emails and once the programs were finally downloaded the Zem would not retain the values and they were always different . It was a miracle that I didn't bend or break the legs on the Zem or my chip during the dozens of removals and replacements.

It was finally determined (by the US vendor) to be faulty and after ANOTHER couple of months I finally got a replacement (eight months after the date of purchase) but by this time I was sick of the sight of the thing and that's why it's "sitting in the bottom of the cupboard".

The Zem is obviously a useful tool (when they work) but unless you have some capabilities to do some tuning yourself (and buy a WB controller $500+ on top of the $800+ for the Zem) you can expect to have some hefty bills for dyno time to get it tuned.

If you are only doing minor mods to your zed then I would suggest just getting one of the fuel controllers and saving yourself a hell of a lot of hassle with any of the "complete tuners".

    Another idea>>>

If you can get hold of any emulator that fits the socket then just use Liveedit which is free and do it that way.
Or just get an aftermarket chip for your current ecu.

    Cheers,
    Matt

Are you set on getting an aftermarket ECU? why don't you just get

the ECU socketed and a custom tune?
