In this artical tested a stock zed it ran a 13.7 http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/features/0306scc_nissan_300zx_twin_turbo/ Now im wondering how come on the draglist, their are cars with mods that should make the zed faster and yet they are not getting low 13's?
Nothing in that article indicated to me that they have actually driven a Zed...just had a look at the marketing release..noted down the specs and stated the performance figures from hearsay. Secondly...assuming that they have actually tested it with a Vbox or something...they may have taken the figures from a new vehicle...not one thats 17 yo... this would obviously affect the times. And finally assuming once again that they tested one...they are motoring journalists..and whilst they arent pro drivers as such you'd expect them to be able to extract the best times from vehicles because that's what they do day in day out as opposed to an enthusiast you might make it down the quarter twice a year.
If you have been to a drag strip event you will know its a funny place. You line up for hours and have maybe 3 runs on a bad night or up to 6 on a good night. Its very complicated thing to do. you do a burn out stage then the nerves kick in and before you know it you have a green and its go time. you play around with the launch revs to avoid both bogging down and wheelspin and try to run the 1/4 without missing a gear or fluffing it. I have had about 8 runs know in my car and managed a 12.7 without nos whereas my first outing was running 14's not because the car wasnt quick just geeting to much wheelspin or bogging it down. It takes practice and a lot of people consistently shave times from that list Wokburner and Jt for instance las tweek shaved there times as a result of knowing there cars more and getting it all together for that on pass. Its a bit of an understated art and not as easy to do as people may think.
May i also say Its the Driver.. Ali there a people out there with minimal mods pulling great times and visa versa.... It all comes down to the driver.. A car doesn't make a driver..... In anycase the general concensus is that a zed should be a flat 14sec car but it varies on weather, fuel, country and of course driver.... Just my 2 cents worth. Terry
Heya Ali Yeah have to be done soon man... I want to do a few things when i do it... I just need to plan it out thats all.... I want to get my injectors clean and flow tested. bypass EGR as it is giving me small dramas intermittently. and also look at the value add of bypassing and removing other common components in the process... But i will let you know when i am ready... I'll be going dumps soon and a few other minor mods... How you been anyway???? Thanks for the congrats.!!!!
More imfo Franz's time compares exactally to the test time found here!http://www.albeedigital.com/supercoupe/articles/0-60times.html
