Hi guys.... The zed died the other day about 500m away from my work. The engine kept running, but I simply could not upshift from second. Rolled the car into a new by car park. Turned it off, turned it on (cranked over fine) but now I have a strange rattling type noise and it's flaring when I try to drive her. I suspect - line pressure to torque converter or gearbox. I don't think it's the gearbox as I've had that die on me and this is different. I was also wondering what happens when the timing belt decides to call it a day....I hope it aint the problem. Any help much appreciated Paul
Perhaps AFM The ECU goes into limp-home mode what it looses the AFM. Check the connections. That doesn't explain the noise though. See Ya, Garry
If the transmission is flaring badly......>> And feels like it is slipping then my guess is something isn't right with the box. Many years ago I had a similar experience when the car decided it didn't want to drive any further in the city. Engine woulf rev but the car got progressively slower as I drove down the street, till it eventually would not go. Had it towed to Nissport, and when we got it off the truck it started and drove quite well, but we put it on the hoist anyway. Ripped the sump off the trans and the filter was clogged with friction material, which was causing almost no fluid flow so no line pressure. Cleaned all the crap out, threw the sump back on and filled it with fluid and the box drove quite well. I did however get the box rebuilt as soon as possible becuase the box had been damaged internally and unfortunately they don't repair them selves.
