He came up with that all by himself?

Maybe it's from past or personal experience, since he says he owns 2, hence twice as small? :p:p

WHO CARES, lets all get off the topic even more by saying that >>

The Australian government lie about their un-employment rates, they lie about inflation rates and any dumb ass would be able to figure that out as the same time last year even the standard weekly groceries have risen probably more than 10-15% *yes* I go shopping sometimes and buy the same things frequently and noticed it as have many others.

This is information from some people higher up in the world than many of us will ever get to >> Australia will eventually be one big warehouse / storage facility. We will be importing EVERYTHING and exporting NOTHING, people my age who don't have their head screwed on in the next 10 years *if* that will most likely find it very hard to get a job and the majority of people my age have already fried their brains on drugs and other shit this world has to offer and will probably be unemployed anyhow. My generation is going to screw up this world and if you deny it, you are afraid to admit it.

In the mean time, lets all try to stop whinging about stupid and idiotic things and prevent this forum from becoming another tt.net at times.

    Flame on.

Even if uni gave me that, I would rather that over being a cop!

major statistical, analytic flaw .. good try ..but does not work ..!!!!!

you argue a case of 500,000 adult workers and probably car owners ,, BUT your remaining 19.5 million constitute the rest of the population, every man, woman and child ..your argument is predicated that ALL THESE drive a vehicle ... which as a proposition blows your argument apart .... sorry no go ...!!!!:thumbsdown:

    Cause & Effect

Cause: Aust Gov wants Aus $$ to stay in Australia... rather than us sendind our $$ to japan.

Australias Economic growth.. Lower Imports (ie less Jap cars) and Higher Exports (ie more HSV GTOs to USA)

Effect: Lower imports means less choice for the consumer which means the local cars dont need to compete with imported cars in a new and used market.

Effect: Prices of local cars are protected, parts for local cars are manufactured more often and local eco wins out.

    red32 You talkin' to me?

    I like this approach, Baz

Not only would the 500,000 manufacturing workers be out of a job, but at least the same number from the associated manufacturing and supply industries would also be put off. This removes $40,000,000,000 (assuming an average $40,000 wage) from the economy. OK, so assume that 80% of these displaced workers find other jobs at similar wages. This still leaves an additional Center-Link bill of $3,600,000,000 to cover those that couldn't. Add to that the loss of tax revenue to the Govt because the car manufacturers and other industries no longer exist. Mr Costello's $11 billion surplus is starting to fade away!

Question: How many cheap imports would we each have to buy each year to recover this amount, considering that most of those who buy new Commys and Fords and Camrys etc., would still rather purchase a new car rather than an unknown such as a second-hand import at a saving of about $20,000 per vehicle?

And I'm not even an Economist!

    Protection? Bring it on!

EDIT: And consider this... in the not so unlikely event of another world conflict, how would we manufacture the armaments now that we have lost a large part of our manufacturing base.

spot on red ... and one basic from economics 101 that i DO recall is

"the MULTIPLIER EFFECT" .. whereby every dollar earned in the australian economy then feeds down the chain to provide something like five times the original amount earned/spent ..so red, multiply YOUR figures by 5 and the scenario magnifies enormously ...!!!!!:thumbsup:;););):p:p:rolleyes::rolleyes:

    makes you wonder though

how the GTO (an Australian made car) is so much cheaper in the US than it is here.

Guys wtf? A few weeks ago you were having a go at the Americans for having a 100-page thread about a pickup-driver who tried to rip a guy off online. Now you guys are going nuts over this stupid little issue. Now everyone is entitled to their own views but let's not get violent here. How about we all calm down and be friendly to all our fellow Zedders out there. Furthermore, picking on grammatical errors on an online forum is nearly as bad as complaining about errors in SMS's. Who cares?!?

Now from CHILI's brake master cylinder brace, I have nothing but respect. But JC has also been helpful so I'm not picking any sides here. I have no beef with anyone but I think doing the whole "my dicks bigger than yours" by recalling all your uni knowledge is a bit silly. Let's all be friends =)

 Nice language and yes I do, why do you ask? If you are going to

reply and say 'go and build it then' that is what sort of reply I would expect from an officer  Lets all become police and try to make ourselves believe we know EVERYTHING about ANYTHING when really we have no idea about half of the things this world has to offer :LOL::LOL:

Me thinks we'll see more of JC, perhaps in a new guise as a RAW's workshop owner:p
