So this morning I got up to go to work and the Zed wouldn't start. It started to crank a bit then it 'clicked' and wont start. Its showing similar symptoms to a flat battery (eg, wont crank or try to start up) but all the electronics (eg, lights, fans etc) work. It's been running fine for ages now and nothing has changed lately. Still has the series 1 PTU if that makes a difference. I haven't had much time to look about (blown fuses?) since i had to get dropped off at work by my roommate. Ive used search and sifted through a number of 'car wont start' threads and the only thing i can gather from them is it could be my starter motor? Any suggestions would be great. Cheers
My bet is a flat battery. It started to crank then didnt have enough juice to keep going. All lights and radio, etc, will still work even if there's not enough power to start.
Buy a multimeter , that way in future you can check to see if your battery is rooted or not . Then look at other causes
It's either your battery or your starter solenoid, most likely your battery but it's easy to check, either get a jump and see if it turns over. If it does it's your battery,
Well the battery has been on the charger all day and still no result. The indicators and windows dont work either.
battery on charge is no help if its dropped a cell. Even if it has sufficient voltage to crank, it wont necessarily have sufficient to start. Try jump starting it.
You were right, the battery was dry and screwed. I put in my room mates battery and it worked straight away. Thanks guys!
