With holidays coming up I'm sure there'll be plenty of time for Members to indulge in some basic maintenance work, a la coolant flushing - refer Zed4life's thread, plenum pulls etc. :zlove:

It is a good time replace injector connectors also.

I've been able to purchase a bulk quantity of injector connectors and offer them slightly above cost to Members - refer FSBB thread. (Trade price is actually $7.50 ea. Any orders below 10 units will incur postage.)

These quick release connectors will replace all 6 injectors, CTS, FICD, AAC, and Air Regulator connectors, 10 in total.

Inspect the existing connectors on your Zed now and see what condition they're in ... most will be brittle, broken and/or corroded. Misfire, unstable idle and a multitude of problems can be attributed to these old failed connectors.

    To replace:-
    1. Remove old connectors 1 at time and label each wiring loom, especially the 3 at rear of engine (AirReg/FICD/AAC).
    2. Cut off old connector and strip wires.
    3. Thread new rubber boot on.
    4. Crimp new pins onto wire (and solder also, if desired - recommended)
    5. Insert new pins into connector and push until they click into position - they only go one way!
    6. Clean the male pins with a points file - also cut or file off the tip of the locating lug on the male receptacle.
    7. Refit new connectors with dialectic grease liberally applied to both male/female pins. Ensure connectors CLICK/LOCK into place firmly.

Note: #5 injector plug may foul fuel rail; if so, try reversing the connector - polarity is not important.

This minor maintenance job may take an hour or 2 but will save you many headaches, and $'s, in the future. :zlove:

Have a MERRY XMAS and drive safely. [TIS]

Call it what you like, but...

I've observed too many threads with problems which relate to dodgy connectors, so I've done something about it.... ok?
Instead of referring to Automotive Solutions Group for purchasing new connectors you can buy here, on forum, at TRADE price.

My thread here, in ZRT, is designed to alert Members to a major cause of minor problems and provide advice on how the job can be done.

Any further TECHNICAL stuff can be discussed HERE. For all else, use PM's.

Personally i see it as a tech article (a good one at that, for a common problem), with a guide as to where you can get the connectors, i've been meaning to do mine for years but as the car is off the road atm there isn't much point, but as soon as she is ready to go again..........

I wish you had these up a few months ago :(, I think i've spent like $300 on connectors over the time I've owned the car! Just ordered the last one this week!

Anyway could anyone post a piccy up of the appropriate crimping tool? I bought one of these quick release connectors for my CAS but I had a fun time trying to crimp the terminals on with my dodgy-tech crimping tool.
