Hello, Since I have my car, it has been the same. When i'm doing a boost leak test, I don't have any leak. But when I pull out the dipstick, all the pressure is released (you can fell and hear it). Since that, I've changed the piston, piston ring (rebore my engine), PCV valve and both turbo's (by uprated) but it's still doing the same. Is it normal? When you guys do any boost leak search, please pull the dipstick to see if doing the same. Thank you
This is a really strange issue I know! When I recently did my GT28R upgrade, I pressure tested my welds once the pipes where fitted back up and I could hear this slight leak of air. After spraying everything with a squirty bottle of water mixed with detergent I couldn't find it so I did the old use a bit of vacuum hose in ear trick and located the leak to the oil drain from the CHRA. I found this very alarming coming from a brand new turbo but guess what, the other side does the same thing. So to answer your question, yes it is normal.
Air is a funny thing It will find its way into any hole mate.. When pumping air into the car, and there is too much pressure being pumped it will also fill parts of the engine.. One of these areas would be the Sump... e.t.c. I get it a fair bit after pumping all this air after doign a leak test. Dont worry mate.. Its all good.
very normal.. air goes in the cylinders and past the rings.. rings do not seal 100% hence the reason for pcvs in the first place i always pull the dipstick to release the pressure when doing a boost leak test
