Water injection kits and Hitec ECUs

Im organising a group buy with Aquamist and Hitec and need to get an idea of people interested. There is no firm pricing yet, merely the offer of a discount. Prices will be agreed upon later, if we get sufficient interest and some soft numbers.

Aquamist are a specialist company in the field of automotive water injection. Their website can be found :here.

Water injection is essentially a cheap and safe way of producing more horsepower from your engine, from the effects of advanced timing and higher boost. You can read the info from aquamist :here

Essentially it is the equivalent of running race gas. With its high latent heat of evaporation it cools both the air temp prior to combustion and the temps in the combustion chamber itself preventing detonation. This allows you to run higher boost well past the normal efficiency of the turbos while still running plain pump gas. For those of you that browse TTnet, you will recall that Ash, formerly of Z1 motorsports was an avid fan of water injection and showed an easy gain of 50 rwhp on a set of 530bb turbos with water injection.

As an added benefit water injection also helps clean carbon deposits from valves, valve seats, combustion chamber and piston crowns to make your engine run more efficiently.

There are several kits available for installation. Info can be found: here. For the majority of users the 1s is the product of choice. It is a basic setup that injects a constant flow of atomised water after a set boost pressure has been reached. For those wanting more control over injection or to make 3d injection maps then the 2s system is the best choice. Current retail price for these systems are approx $905aus for the 1s and $1800aus for the 2s system. The high cost for the 2s system comes from the specialised MF2 injector controller which controls a high speed valve, similar to a fuel injector. It is basically a stand alone injector driver and will interface with the MAF sensor to allow you true 3d flow mapping. This is only of benefit to the most hardcore user.

Some may recall some issues in the past regarding aquamist pumps and their reliability. I was in touch some time ago with one of the aquamist engineers and the pump has been through 7 revisions since then and has no known issues. I certainly have no problems in using it in my setup.

So the benefit of water injection is only achieved with higher boost and more advanced timing, so the use of the kit is limited by those with a stock ECU. Thats why Ive asked Bob of Hitec to help us out in this group buy.

As you know Hitec has been producing performance ECU upgrades for zeds in Australia for a long time and is both well respected and well used by forum members. Hitec will be offering a second "water injection map" that will allow you to benefit from the water injection with more advanced timing and leaner fuel mix. For those with a stock ECU, hitec are offering a discount on their performance ECU with this second switchable map. For those already with the Hitec ECU, Hitec is offering a discount on upgrading their ECU with the additional switchable map.

Obviously both the aquamist and Hitec ECUs can be bought individually in this group buy without the other.

So with summer here, time to start thinking about how your going to make some safe power and boost like it was winter still. If your interested then post, PM, or email me. Water injection is by no means a new technology and used widely in rally sport and performance cars so there is a tonne of info on available on the internet.

not a bloody chance at that price for that panacea

If it was around $300 I might consider it otherwise I think I'll make my own.

Tektrader Z32 Hoe, service me baby

I'd like a Hitech as well

When will we know the pricing ??

I also want custom fuel and ignition map done.

Is the water injection any use on an NA ?? I remember years ago there where heaps of syphon systems for normal cars.
