Urethane front bar replacement advice, input wanted!

    Hi peeps!

I've currently got a UAS front bar (with speed holes), which is fibreglass. It's been a great product, and great quality front bar (for a fibreglass bar) for me for the last 6 years.

Unfortunately a couple of weeks ago, i was driving along some country roads to Leyburn at ~100kph and a critter ran out in front of me and i hit it. (no possible chance of avoiding this one ). It seemed to be a rabbit or a fox or some kind of critter of that size.
...but ultimately it cracked the front bar right through and it has no strength at all now, i've sought advice from 2 panel beater/spray painter people that i've used before and they both gave the same advice of, we can fix it and make it look pretty again, but it's lost it's strength and could split again with a small knock. So the advice is to get a whole new bar.

I would like to go down the Urethane route this time, as it's a bit more forgiving to little bumps and the like.

Problem is I'm head over heals in love with my UAS front bar, and they're not available in Urethane.

So i'm chasing something similar looking to my current bar, also with similar clearances (which is my main concern).
My Zed is lowered 2" and admittedly can be a prick to get up steep driveways, speedbumps, etc as it is. So i don't want a front bar that is (A) too low; and (B) too much frontal overhang. And am seeking opinions for a suitable replacement.
(a good example of what i'm NOT looking for regarding these clearance issues would be, say, a Veilside C2 front bar! :vomit:)

Here's my current bar (before said critter wanted a closer look at it):

And so far my first choice of front bar replacement is a Urethane Stillen bar, same as Tektraders & Wykked's Zed (Tektrakers pictured below):

Any first hand experience with these bars regarding clearances, etc would be appreciated, and also other Urethane replacement options with pics/links would be great guys! :zlove:

    Cheers,
    Benny. :)

Benny, the genuine GReddy front bar that the UAS bar is a rip off of is made in urethane :) You'll have to order it in the states, but it'll be a great bit of kit. If you give it to USA to AUS they'll prob'ly send it your way for less than $100. You can't beat the real deal!

Postage from the US to Aus at that price? Am I missing something? As I got quoted $655 postage or something for a front bumper from the states. I'm also after a urethane front bar as my fibreglass is cracked for about the 3rd time. I've given up on it now...

Benny, let me know how you go and what option you decide.

    Cheers,

    Jamie

USA to AUS import cars. They sell off the remaining space in their shipping containers very, very cheaply.

Last time I contacted USAtoAUS their Parts Manager in Aus was on 'extended medical leave', though that was in May so hopefully he's doing better by now.

I imported a rear bumper through USAtoAUS a while ago, nothing but good things to say of the transaction.

They come across on a boat though, which is why the price is so much lower Jamie. Also, you have to factor in shipping between Coz/Z1 to USAtoAUS's depot in Battleground. Then again factoring shipping from the docks to your house (unless you can pick it up yourself, given that there's a dock in Sydney).

The only thing with USAtoAUS is that it can take a looooooong time. They wait until their containers are completely full before they go sending them off. I ended up getting mine sent to Melbourne then delivered to my place, because it was going to be soooo long before they had a container going to Adelaide.

Both Russ (ZeDHeD) and I, have had dealings with them and have been very happy with the service. Sounds like Anti's had a good experience too?

If you have any questions feel free to ask, or just contact them through that website :p

    Cheers,
    Tom :zlove:

Thanks for that info regarding shipping for parts Tom, as by the sounds of things, i'll be ordering my bar from the states at the end of the day. So i'll most definately be looking into this link you've posted. "Thanks" go to your for your lengthy and helpful posts! :zlove:

No worries Benny, all your assistance with offsets and widths deserves some recompense. As such I'm more than happy to jump at an opportunity to assist wherever I can :)

What about an OEM 96? bar. We can get them here in NZ for about $800 including all the lights etc. Can't beat OEM on fitment

I haven't used them before, but when I'm planning to. I've got brake rotors from one seller, a VeilSide EC-1 wing from another and tail lights and other mumbo jumbo from CZP so I'm getting it all sent to USA to AUS and asking for sea freight. Time's not a factor for me though.
