UAS X pipe... for 2+2 or 2 seater?

I decided to have one of these fitted a couple of months ago while I was getting the clutch replaced.

My mechanic said it wouldn't fit right, claiming it was to big and to tight. He had to flatten the corners or something to get it to fit
    Anyone had this problem?

Anyway seemed ok for about a week but then it started to hit some part of the cars underbody. Since I had to go back to fix a tailshart vibration issue that occurred once the clutch was replaced I got them to readjust the X pipe.

Once again it was good for about a week and although an improvement over the first attempt, I suspect it will get worse with time.

Are these X pipes one fits all, or was it designed for a 2+2?

One size fits all. He's doing something wrong, there are so many of these fitted to forum cars without any issues...

    I had the same issue.....

My car is a J-spec NA, 2 seater, and the exhaust place that did my exhaust had the same issue. He even showed me the problem, but its hard to describe here. Essentially, the UAS muffler was a just a little too long (about 5cm) to clear a part of the chassis so it would fit snug. The angle of my exhaust piping did not leave any room for it to be inserted further back so they had to slightly press in the corners at one end to make it fit. No big deal apparently as they have to do it a lot on many customs exhaust. But yeah, not sure if its something inherent about my exhaust or if there is a slight difference between 2 seaters and 2+2's. Either way, still very happy with the UAS centre muffler, one of the best things I have bought for the zed.

    Cheers

... my exhaust shop was also a little troubled with it... got it done in the end though...
... on another note, he was VERY impressed with the quality and workmanship of the muffler... he said... "wow... this must have been very expensive..."
i said.... "yes... yes it was..." lol

Might be something to do with the positioning? When I had my old 2.5" system done it was a new system from the turbos back (tuneagent dump/front pipes, metalcats, x pipe, and blitz mufflers at the rear). The muffler fit really well, no clearance issues and no massaging.

Couple of pics from when I sold the system -you can see the centre section sits a fair way behind the front pipes and slightly angled from the cats. I guess your existing system may have something to do with it? Probably a little more restricted if trying to make it work with existing front pipes or cat back.

Never had an issue and no one has mentioned this yet. We can easily make shorter for 2 seater. Rob has 2 seater and big 3 inch zorst and all good? IF we make shorter it will make the zorst slightly.

When I had mine installed on my 2 seater NA..the exhaust shop guy said something about mine being a "tiny bit long" as well, can't remember what he said to fix it..but it wasn't a big deal to sort out the fitment..

My exhaust guy said the same thing; SLIGHTLY too long, had to trim the outlets or something I think he said. Can't remember, was a while ago :p

Fits under my 2+2 nicely, was told it would fit all models. As you can see, snug, but not squished. :)

Thanks for the comments, another Q

I suspect it would be a little more difficult adding the X pipe to an existing exhaust setup as opposed to having the X pipe included as part of the original design.

After seeing those photos and how tight the fit really is, I have another question.

What is the best way to increase the firmness of the exhaust to ensure the X pipe doesn't hit the surrounding structures when driving on uneven roads?
This is really my only remaining issue at the moment.

Thanks for the comments guys, and for the record I have no regrets in purchasing this product. I love the new exhaust tone, which also got rid of practically all the drone.

It should be held in place by the rest of the exhaust, no need for hangers on the centre muffler
