I tried to convey info through Rob but seems to have been confused. I won't comment on anything other than technical items raised associated with the product. I suspect there would be at least 1mm of play due to flex of urethane bushes under load. Not to be confused with bump steer in rear or toe change through travel up and down of the wheel. We plotted this years ago and found full droop to full compression in rear is more like 5mm total change and yes toe's in under compression which in theory is better for traction but may be a bit too much and wear tyres. Through trial and error and testing and plotting different geomtry changes, we reduced this toe change a lot in our race car.

    Flex in steering

Hey mungyz I had this set up in my car like NA as has NA cradle and a motor sport engineer a few years back was checking and advising on our car and saw this bush set up and said big no NO. Even if not worn which they actually wear you get flex in the steering angles left to right through flex in the bush. Factory Nylon set up if not worn is better for NA. I had Rod end inner but urethane outer bush and changed to TT ball joint and even changed to R33 GTST ball joint which yes fits and uses a lighter circlip to secure rather than a big this metal and rubber washer and bolt the ZTT uses.

    Now have this set up.

John, do you think that the bush on the traction arm could have a similar effect? Any work been done on replacing that?

Yep factory Nylon if not worn is better than aftermarket Urethane, and if flexes not as much effect on Toe change as rear steering arm. We have adjustable and Rod ends inner and outer as per the pic.

I just got tired of the ball joints, when I first got the car both outer ball joints were worn & the rack ends were as well, I replaced all of them then proceeded to abuse the car in burnout displays, drag racing, circuit work etc. It wasn't long before the rack ends were worn & a ball joint worn again.

I have no doubt there is movement in the bush compared to the ball joint & no doubt they will wear also but I have a plan for if/when that happens :D

I can totally understand why the inner sockets would wear as they often do, but the outer ball joint rarely fail or wear. You must be a thrasher. My outer rear ball joints are fine after a few years of racing 10 plus track days a year.

    Never!
I think it was the drag launches & burnout displays that did the damage, for normal use the ball joints are fine - I made a special puller to change them without removing the rear knuckles but then found I only used it on my car :bash:

    Outer Balljoint Replacement

Guys UAS can offer OEM outer balljoints for $88/side with a UAS HICAS eliminator kit for those that need them.

Not exactly the same thing although yes it is a different way of achieving the same outcome with regards to disabling HICAS.

The billet lock braces are very heavy (around 3kg from memory), chrome molly lock brace like I have is around 1010 grams and I would expect this style kit to be lighter again as all you are "adding" to the system is the mild steel bracket not a solid.

The other advantage with this style kit is it replaces your inner sockets which ARE often worn and contribute to play in steering and irregular tyre wear. Replacing these is around $140/side for Nissan.

So similar outcome with regard to HICAS elimination but definately not the same and cheap cheap for what you get.

Hey guys, group buy is unforunately off as we are still a long way from the ten orders.

BUT they are in stock ready to sell so I will get a below retail price from JP for those that want.

I know Black Beast has bought his already but that still leaves four of us including myself after a kit.

    Stay tuned...

Just to clear up some recent confusion, this group buy didn't go ahead/isn't going ahead and the discounted prices quoted in this thread are no longer valid. Yes they are still available and in stock at UAS, call 02 9620 9000 or email sales@uniqueautosports.com John or contact via website www.300zx.com.au if you are interested in buying.
