So as it turns out I have to be carless for a little while. Unfortunately this means getting rid of the zed ive spent years working on. It has a number of little glitchy problems which together will mean it wont sell for much, even though theyre all pretty small problems.

It will be worth more if I part it out due to the aftermarket bits and pieces I have on it. Rego runs out in a week. I plan to leave the car intact until I find someone to take the engine out of it. That way you can hear it running, take it for a drive, and feel safe that you get what youre paying for!

I also dont plan to sell any of it incase someone wants a whole TT engine conversion kit or decides theyll buy the whole thing minus my aftermarket parts etc.

    Heres the running gear:
    Its a 1990 Manual 2+2 Aus-spec thats done 130,000kms.
TT conversion has been done and the engine is a 1994 TT engine thats done 140,000kms. Its in great nick. The 100k service was done 10,000kms ago. The cam seals werent replaced and are a bit leaky. Otherwise the engine is very healthy.

All bypasses have been done, all hoses have been replaced, new water pump fitted a bit down the line, new gaskets, new bolts. Generally it has been well looked after. Stock engine internals and turbos etc.

I am looking for $1800 for the engine.

It is currently mated to an NA gearbox. The bellhousing has been slightly modified to fit a TT clutch and flywheel. The starter motor has a Z1 spacer to allow the TT conversion. Following the box is a lightweight one-piece aluminium tailshaft matching to an NA diff. The clutch and flywheel are a few months old - F1 racing stage 2 clutch, and their lightweight flywheel.

If you would be interested in the engine alone, a short block, the engine and gearbox, the whole drivetrain, or the whole car minus a few bits like coilovers, exhaust, front bar, leather seats etc let me know your thoughts.

Peace out guys. Saddens me that I have to bail on zedding for now but it has to happen for the near future unfortunately. New apartment with only one car spot means me and the gf both have to sell our cars (she wont drive the zed, i wont drive the golf :p). Going to buy a new car on mutual ground for the near future.

Tell me if youre after something and well try work something out. As mentioned the car runs perfectly well, and is registered till the 20th of June. Not parting anything until the engine is gone.

Do want gearbox and shaft, but I think I'd still have to do modifications for it to fit my NA auto :( How much are you looking for them?

Sad to see you have to sell,
If you do part it out i'd like to buy the drivers door card if its in good nick, been chasing one for ages.

Shaft is from Z1, had it in there for about 3000kms only. They cost about $550 landed new. Id probably be asking for $400 at this point. Maybe 300 for the gearbox.

I could potentially do a whole manual conversion kit for you. Just have to work out where I can spend a day pulling the car apart.

What's the condition of the gearbox? Keen.

A TT shaft ain't going to suit your NA diff

Gearbox is great minus one problem. Second synchro is kinda worn. When I first got the car 6 years ago id miss the gear when trying to be a racer. But since then learnt that if youre careful with it it goes in fine. Dont think ive missed the gear in like 3 years.

If youre keen, and I find someone else for the engine, you can come have a drive of it before I pull it apart so you can see what I mean. Hasnt bothered me once I worked out how to avoid doing it. But it might bother you.

Mine will. I also have an NA diff :)

Jamie will you have a TT or NA engine in there?

Oh well there ya go, Jamie it won't require any mods to fit

NA engine, so I assume the GB will require modification to fit.

Its an NA gearbox too. Needed to modify it to fit TT clutch (just grind of a few mm from a rib).

So if yours is an NA they will both bolt straight on no issues :) How much of a rush are you in to get the parts though?

I was hoping to keep it together till the engine sells. Could pull it apart earlier though if necessary..

But will it go back to a NA setup without modification needed? Tempting, really tempting.

I'm in no rush for it, don't get my licence back for another 3 weeks anyways.

Exactly. As long as you get your own NA flywheel and clutch. And your car is a 2+2.

$1650 for the engine without crank pulley or water pulley.

This is what you get, in this exact state. The engine is sitting in the car, still running. You can hear it, feel it, smell it all you want before you buy it. Kept the car running just so prospectice buyers can see it run.

Its done 140,000kms. Full 100k service done, visible Gates timing belt in good nick, all hoses replaced, water hoses bypassed, EGR blocked off, new PCv valves. Its a great stock engine kept in great nick, with all bits replaced, and only a few reliability modifications done. Dual fuel feed has also been setup so 6th cylinder doesnt starve like often seen on zeds.

Price drop $1500 for the TT engine without crank pulley or water pulley.

As mentioned the car has been kept running so you can come check out the engine running. Risk free purchase :) Its in good nick, with full 100k service done, all bypasses, all hoses replaced.

    Bargain!

hi is the motor still for sale and would you know its compresion

  17. attila.Z

the engine will be removed from the car in the next few days.
    Compression results are as follows:

    Cylinder 1: 142.5 psi
    Cylinder 2: 140 psi
    Cylinder 3: 132.5 psi
    Cylinder 4: 145 psi
    Cylinder 5: 140 psi
    Cylinder 6: 145 psi

These readings were taken with the car cold, engine hadnt run for about 6 months. So make of that what you will, values might be a touch lower than a warm lubricated engine.

Price drop for the engine as well. Down to $1300

    Gearbox is sold.
Engine is now removed from the car and up for sale- without dump pipes, no crank pulley, and no water pump pulley (aftermarket bits i will sell seperately).

gearbox and conversion bits sold, but I still have the TT engine!!

Now priced at $1300 total with the underdriven water pump pulley, and the GFB lightweight crank pulley! ready to bolt in!

Massive bargain here for a very decent condition, low mileage 1994 TT engine.
Dont think I can drop the price any lower.
Now its just a matter of waiting till someone needs it.

It has been well looked after, 100k service done, a whole bunch of maintenance work done on it. Snap. It. Up.

For this price its almost worth buying it as a spare ;)
Only reason its so cheap is because I dont have any storage space and its kept at a friends house down the road :/ So its priced to beat all other engine sales as soon as someone decides they need one :)

I have access to a 4WD, and have an engine crane to load it up into a box trailer, or could even deliver it to your door (if youre local) at a small extra cost of me hiring a trailer + bit of petrol cash. Interstate shipping I dont really know how that works with an engine to be honest... but if theres a way, ill have a go.

I really need this engine gone. Being ushered to move it by the friend whose house im storing it at.

Make an offer for the engine. Its already dirt cheap, but I know at the right price everyone would buy a healthy spare engine, or one to build up.

$1200 now theres some incentive come and get it!
